It turns out the story of the croissant is full of assumptions. At the end of the 18th century, Marie Antoinette (Queen of France, the youngest daughter of Emperor Franz I and Maria Theresa. Wife of French King Louis XVI) brought many baking recipes to France from her homeland, including crescent shaped cakes. They gained mass popularity in 1683, when the Austrian Augustus Tsang founded the “Vienna bakery” in Paris and began to offer visitors unusual “bagels”. But only at the beginning of the 20th century, French cooks began to cook croissants made of puff pastry on the freshest aromatic butter.

Can you name the best croissant you’ve ever had? For me it was in Rome and it was filled with chocolate cream to the point where it almost bursted. I’ve never visited France so I have yet to try the real french thing.
