Freelancer. Remote worker. Digital nomad. Doesn’t matter what you named it. In the era of Internet of Things, more and more people, especially the Millennials have changed the idea of “routine office 9-5 jobs” to “working from home” or basically anywhere in the World (working while traveling).
As I myself have been freelancing more than a year now, there is nothing more reliable than Google Maps to help me to find nearby cozy cafe or co-working spaces to get my projects done. Though I could be just working from my home but I found a lot of temptation and obstacle which more often would make me less motivated to work, not to mention when I was traveling and working from shared dormitory room was very uncomfortable.
The problem is how to find the best place that will support your today’s goal. I called The basic ideal criteria of co-working spaces for freelancers as B-I-T :
- Budget Friendly (as a freelancer, with no steady income, admit it we need to arrange our daily budget carefully and sometimes there are co-working spaces which require us to purchase monthly membership rather than daily pass. And we can’t have that fancy starbucks coffee everyday, right?)
- Internet Connections (yes sometimes the cafe and the coffee are good but poor internet connection and no charging station for your PC)
- The Com-fee. (Comfort and Cofee. Is the place to crowded? tiny chair with no back? how is the room temperature and they said there is no life before coffee, so make sure you have a good one, better if the co-working spaces provide free flow of coffee or tea)
As Google Maps also helped me a lot during my travel and cafe to cafe work, I came out with this idea to also contribute to put reviews of every cafe/co-working space/hostel/shop that mostly describes B-I-T criteria. I hope it also will help another freelancer or start-up company during their remote working. I currently has made the list Freelancer’s Sanctuary in Indonesia (List of places that matched B-I-T criteria best) So far I have put reviews for Jakarta, Bali and another city in Java islands Indonesia, another country or city will follow as soon as I travel there).
Any recommendation from other fellow freelancers from another country is really appreciated. Feel free to add in the comment below or message me so that I could put more places on the list. Quick question: is there any way that we can share our list that other local guide can review/edit just like google drive? please let me know ?
