Free climbing over the sea (DWS)

Hello,

do you know that it’s possible to make free climbing without ropes?
The name is Deep-water soloing (DWS), also known as psicobloc, “is a form of solo rock climbing that relies solely upon the presence of water at the base of a climb to protect against injury from falls from the generally high-difficulty routes. It is typically practiced on sea cliffs at high tide” (wikipedia).
I discovered dws at Tyulenovo, Bulgaria.

If you have photos of other locations share them here!

Woow great place! I wanted to try it in Vietnam but the sea level was too low…

In Mallorca we have lots of spots for that as well!

I’m italian and now I’ve discovered that there are a lot of very good italian spots also over lake e.g. in the north of Garda lake.

DWS and birds: pay attention to this limitation!

Hi @pivari ,

Thanks for sharing!

I never new there was a term for this style of climbing, but it looks really fun. I bet climbing above water takes away the worst nerves as opposed to climbing over the ground.

If the weather is nice and warm, I could see why people want to spend a while day doing this.

Do you know of other good places for this activity in Bulgaria or in other countries?

There a lot spots around the world but I discovered the sport in Bulgaria. In Italy there spots over the sea and over the lake. I think one of the most famous in the world is in Maiorca.

I’m planning to go to the Bulgarian seaside this summer @pivari , so I will definitely see if I can swing by this place.

I will probably not be climbing, but I can enjoy the sun and watch the climbers do their thing.
