Fragrance flowers I saw during my trip to the border (II)

Hi dear @Jewel-2691 thank you for the comment. Did you mean the first flower?

Interesting post as always @Sophia_Cambodia ! The first flower, ripen banana flower, is used for death ceremony here. We put on the grave along with other flowers after the ceremony is over. For Jasmine, mostly we use it for traditional wedding ceremony accessories. Thanks for sharing this great story and photos!

I see, perhaps they are abundance in your place @NunungAfuah Here, I rarely see people plant

the ripen banana flowers. Jasmine is common, they are for religious ceremony and cultural things, either in the wedding or blessings ceremony.

It is interesting to learn that you use them for the funeral @NunungAfuah this is unknown to me.

Ah @Sophia_Cambodia I forgot to mention that here in Javanese culture (I live in Java island), we have 7 fragrance flowers (bunga tujuh rupa ) in many ceremonial events. For traditional wedding, people held showering with 7 fragrance flowers as part of the ceremony as well. In modern day, we could see these 7 fragrance flowers for showering in several fancy hotels in Bali.

I saw that mixed of flowers used for the blessing ritual in the wedding ceremony too but I did not know it has to be 7 fragrance flowers. I thought they are mixed of color for beautifulness so often they mixed colors instead of fragrance, for example: yellow, red, orange, purple white. Now, I understood this is probably influenced by Javanese culture [according to history, some period of time we had Java coming] but we did not take it well @NunungAfuah and perhaps because we can not find 7 fragrance flowers so we mix colors instead

Oh yeah, @Sophia_Cambodia I once read history about Javanese King stayed in Cambodia. We have Javanese Script as well. I think Cambodia has one too right? This is interesting! Asian culture has many similarities!

Interesting, huh @NunungAfuah I have no idea about the script. There are many of them from before Angkorian period , Angkorian period and after…

Very interesting, thank you for sharing these important inputs @Theenan you are right, we have been influenced by Hindu culture and custom :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you for sending them over, look lovely @CAAG1959 they are from my collection. The first two photos are from the wild. The rest is from the orchards, where they reserve these flowers.

Thank you @CAAG1959 that’s why I am here to share with you for what you don’t have or have never seen before. You are right, we have so many things, tropical plants and fruits and vegetables that cannot be found in your place or anywhere else. We have favorable temperature that allow them to grow well!

Yes, you are always welcome,

Greetings @Sophia_Cambodia
