Mis fotos compartidas en Google Maps desde hace unas 4 días no son publicadas.
Por qué?
Qué puede hacer?
I need help!
Hi @Carchi , can you provide more details about the issue?
- Are the photos visible on your profile but not visible in the listing in Google Maps?
- Are the photos pending for publication?
- Are the photos attached to a review or stand alone?
- Do you receive any error message when you publish them?
- Is the issue related to all the photos or just to some photo published 4 days ago on a specific place?
I am asking because on your profile I can see photos published 2, 3 and also 4 days ago
Without a detailed explanation it will be impossible to help you
Hay @ErmesT , tie pictures not published are all subsequent to the ones you show in your message, they appear darkened and with a little triangle left above. When I click any not published fhoto I read next:
Contenido multimedia no publicado
Gracias por tu contribución. No obstante, no podemos publicarla una o varias de estas fotos o vídeos en este momento.
¿Qué ha ocurrido?
¿Qué puedes hacer?
Siempre puedes editar y volver a enviar tu contenido.
Puede que haya más opciones de resolución disponibles.
They pictures are of two restaurants, a river and a bridge, I only can see them in Google Maps.
Thanks @ErmesT.
Thanks for the details, @Carchi
What I understand is that the photos are standalone, not attached to a review, and that were published in listings that are inside the EU.
This type of information for not published media and reviews was in fact tested in France, then extended the the whole EU, and recently also to some additional countries, like Turkey, to inform the users when a content is not published.
Sometimes it offers also the possibility to appeal, for an operator to check the contents and release them.
Sometimes it’s possible to edit a bit the content (Google Maps app has a very simple editor based on Google Photos that is working quite well), and it’s usually approved.
Otherwise your can use the form available in this post to appeal for having the photos published: An update on how we moderate Google Maps reviews
Hay @ErmesT, lo que me preocupa es que de repente Google Maps no me deja publicar ninguna foto nueva, ¿ le está pasando también estos a otros Local Guides?.
La situación es mu frustante, no entiendo nada.
Thanks for your interest @ErmesT .
I see you had no problems in publishing other photos, @Carchi , some of yours is very recent, so I don’t think you are having an issue in your account. However sometimes the filter is acting in a very strange way, that’s why I suggested you to appeal, for an operator to check and release the hidden photos. The check may take time, but it will also help because the action of the operator will teach to the filter that your photos are ok
Hello @Carchi, please have a look what I explained earlier today here: Cannot upload images to reviews - #6 by WilfriedB
I didn’t have any photos rejected immediately after uploading since more than a year, but today, after using a new smartphone (Galaxy S24 Fe) 8 out of 10 were hidden instantly - like yours! I suspect somehow the image format was the cause. After I deleted some of the rejected photos, cropped them slightly and uploaded again, they were accepted.
Which camera or smartphone did you use?
FYI @ErmesT
Hi @WilfriedB, my problem happened suddenly with the same smartfhone I use since more than a year, I don’t know why!. I use a Galaxy A55
I discovered, thanks to @ErmesT, that if I slightly edit my fhotos they are uploaded. Old fhotos I can upload without problem.
And I have another problem, fhotos published long time ago are deleted from Google Maps without an explanation, with many views and likes, I have one for example with more than 5 million views and 90 likes.
I’ve sent an appeal.
Thanks for the feedback @Carchi. Let’s see what the appeals bring.
Yesterday, I uploaded 19 photos and “only” 17 were reject immediately. Again, after cropping slightly they were accepted right away.
Hi @ErmesT , I’ve sent the appeal. If I edit slightly the fhotos they are uploaded. But it is the same smartphone I had two weeks ago, I cannot understand it.
I have another problem, fotos uploaded time ago are suddenly deleted without explanation. Some with many views and likes, one with more than 5 million views and 90 likes. Thinks like that discorauges you of going on contribuiting to Google Maps.
Greetings.
@Carchi , It happened to me too, with photos that were originally the cover photo of the listing, with more than a million views.
My feeling is that, being old photos selected by Google as “the cover of the listing” they were flagged by the business itself because no longer representing them.
This is an option available for the business owner only, through their Google Business Profile
Hi @ErmesT , the pictures I’m talking about are of places, mainly cities or towns, not businesses.
@Carchi
Do you mean photos uploaded directly on cities? If so, this can be easy to explain.
Can you provide an example (a link on Google Maps) of places where the photos were uploaded?
https://maps.app.goo.gl/uRgyLE9Pq9uP61wX8?g_st=ac
Hi @ErmesT
Now you cannot publish directly fhotos in a city or town but before it was diferent, I have a lot.
This link is of a fhoto that was first of Móstoles, a town near Madrid, more than two years and reached more than 5 millions views, 3 or four months ago it was deleted of Google Maps.
Thank you for clarifying it, @Carchi
Well, there is a 10 years long debate about that.
The policies never changed about this point and what Google says, and always said, in Add, remove & share photos or videos in Google Maps - Computer - Google Maps Help, is:
You can’t add media to:
- Addresses
- Coordinates
- Private residences
- Geographical areas
In fact this kind of locations never had a button available to upload photos, so the photo were always uploaded through a workaround (a feature in another Google’s App)
Google promised a lot of times to remove that feature, because it was against the policies. And several year ago the team also promised to remove the photos uploaded in that way. So probably now they are just doing that.
This could be very disruptive for users who have legitimately used that feature, a feature made available by Google, even if it violates Google’s own rules. However, I expected it to happen sooner or later.
Hi @ErmesT , I’ve never uploaded any fhoto of geographical sites in Google Maps with another App, allways directly with Google Maps. Since 2023 I cannot do it anymore.
When you want to upload one fhoto you have a menu of places and you choose or try another one writting it down. I always did it inside Google Maps App.
Yes, you are right, @Carchi
It was an integration of Google Photos on Maps App. Photos share with Maps some of the functions about photos (e.g editing).
The feature to choose a destination where there isn’t a button to add photos was removed first around five years ago, then restored because probably was causing some issue on Photos. Now they improved it again, for being able to add photos only where it’s permitted
Thanks for yor information and advises @ErmesT.
What l learned of this issue is that now I have to edit my fhotos the way Google Maps likes.![]()
Hi @Carchi, I have the same problem you have. I think the problem started after I updated my Samsung S24. Have you updated your phone lately?
Hi @Mikko , yes I did , old fhotos l can upload without editing them.
