From the little experience I have had with the deaf in my church and community, what I would have loved to share most would be bus stops and deaf-friendly places. The reason is because Ghana, like many other African countries, does not have bus system that operates with fixed schedules but rather we use the tro tro system most often which is entirely not structured.
This system is used by over 70% of us and our deaf brothers and sisters, and even new comers on certain routes have challenges using it. Those who can afford to pay higher than the tro tro fare for the same distance use the taxi and other new means like Uber, Taxify etc. but not for the average deaf and mute person. The tro tro is most preferred because of cost. Adding bus stops and deaf-friendly places on Google Maps would help them navigate easily and make the right choices about places.
Currently, what I love to share most is adding new and old places that are not on the map to make them easily accessible for people, especially the deaf, who want to use them to verify their locations.
I read posts from @JJG and @Strokehearty about the deaf but I am wondering why I can’t hear from them anymore. I believe we can do more with Google Maps to help the deaf and everyone as much as possible.
