Flying the German Alps

Ever dreamed flying like an eagle ? Try a flight with a glider upon the Alps in South Bayer, between München and Salzburg. Choose a sunny day, not too windy. Have a drink at the club’s terrace, enjoy the non-stop show of tak-off and landing. When ready for the big excitment, go to the control tower and ask for a pilot : everything here is happening smoothly, you will meet your pilot and have a friendly chat with him as take-off briefing.

For a single flight approx. 20 minutes, you will pay around 40€. But for a whole day including extended technical and meteo information, 3 take-offs with a glider and a 20 minute flight with a motorglider, you will be charged 115€. Provided you own a license, you can reduce those costs flying by yourself, but I’m advising you not to do so because flying in the Alps area requires a quite specific training and a deep knowledge of the local meteo.

So, wear your sunglasses, climb inside the cockpit and fasten your safety harness.

Take-off is breath-taking : the initial climbing rate is quite impressive. You will admire the beautiful landscape of the valley and the surrounding mountains. Provided you sympathized with your pilot, you will be allowed to take the yoke for a while. Don’t think of a silent flight : a strong wind’s noise is omnipresent.

20 minutes flight will pass too quickly, and you will quit your narrow seat with regret.
