I always travel to a warmer climate during the holiday season (Christmas/New Year’s). Sadly, Flagstaff was cold and snowy but Phoenix was perfect! This photo is the Clark Telescope at the Lowell Observatory. Star gazing might before my new hobby!

Glad you enjoyed yourself in Phoenix @lakeoftea and that you might have found a new hobby. Star Gazing is quite a common one. Did you know that Google Maps also covers the sky? Take a look at
If you ever get down to Los Angeles take a look at the Mt Wilson telescope and solar observatory. They do tours.

I’ve helped with part of the mechanical restoration of a major telescope and more recently a small one @lakeoftea but I’m not much into looking through them :). It is the mechanical bits such as how they track and counter the spin of the globe that fascinate me.

The universe is very fascinating and star gazing could very well become a hobby of mine as well, even though i think it’s an expensive one.
I hope you’re not planning on moving a telescope of this size into your living room.
Did you get to look through the telescope or was it just for show?
