“First we eat, then we do everything else.” -M.F.K.Fisher

This is a quote that I live by. Food and me , we always had a love-hate relationship. I love to eat , but hates the fact that it shows up exactly on my waist. But my love for food always won over any other feeling I may have against it, including IBS. Even as a child I get excited about trying out new food . But what gets me more excited is when I have an opportunity to share an amazing place or a delicious item that I found to some one who I know will appreciate it. The expression on their faces and when they say “this is good” makes me feel so accomplished.

Being a mother of a 3 year old , I am already trying to teach my son how to appreciate the diversity in food and to give everything a try once and then decide if you like it or not and never to judge anything by just appearance , be it food or people or anything else. The fact that I have a very supportive husband helps me in my “mission”.

So when I stumbled up on the local guides platform while searching of a new place to eat (obviously), it was like heaven send. Now I can ramble about something l love to people all over the world and help them experience the feeling of being satisfied by food for the soul. And thats exactly what I did. As a person with social anxiety, meeting new people was always difficult . But this platform had helped me convey what I want to say without any of the other worries that usually restricts me. Because when talking about food I forget everything.

I mostly give reviews on the restaurants that I visit and answer questions that anyone might have . There is no specific type of restaurant that I like. But what I look for when I go to a new place is:

  • The Appearance - I prefer a casual and cozy atmosphere so if the place looks too uptight or too formal I wont be a big fan . Because for me food should be eaten comfortably not by trying to make sure everything is done perfectly. Its food just enjoy it with out worry.
  • The People - The staff of the place plays a big role . Even if the food is bad if the person serving you makes you feel good you will enjoy the food. Smiley faces and casual chit chat is very important . But they should also know to leave us alone when we are eating ,because I am sure no one would enjoy a person hovering around you when you are trying to gobble up the food or licking your spoon
  • The Food - Last but not the least , the taste of the food is very important. We all have different preference so its understandable that you may not like something that another person enjoys. But the way the food is displayed on the place , the amount of oil that is used and the how clean it looks matters more to me that if that particular item is satisfying my taste-buds (May be its personal , I just don’t like food with oil oozing out of it).

So all my reviews will be based on that , I may give 4 star to a place with not such good food if the place makes me comfortable and if the people there are welcoming and friendly. Being a person who does not know the local language and need to communicate in English makes a little biased when it comes to places where they can use English and answers my questions properly.

I appreciate this platform so much for that because even if the person working in a restaurant cant answer me properly, I know that if I post the question here someone out there will give me a proper answer. But most of all this platform helped me meet people who share common interest as me. Now I cannot imagine a time without the Google notification:
