First Road Edit!

I wanted to share my excitment about my first road edit on Google Maps being accepted! :raising_hands::partying_face::confetti_ball:

Thank you to @MarcoDavoli for sharing your journey with TRAC at CLNY. It was truly inspirational! I knew then I wanted to do more and be involved!

I have heard how difficult these are to be approved and was nervous about even getting started with any of it. Yet, I still wanted to help in any way possible.

Although, this may seem like it is only a little map edit, I am still excited about it! And I am proud of myself for trying! :sweat_smile:

I also want to give a huge shout-out to @JustJake for helping teach me how to edit the map and even add in a new road. I do not think I would have been able to do it without the assistance!

The lesson here was to not be discouraged if there is something you do not know how to do or have trouble with. And that it is okay to ask for help or guidance. I am thankful for Local Guides/ Connect and the community of people who are willing to help and teach one another!

I cannot wait for other future contributions to be made! :grin:

Happy Mapping! :globe_showing_americas::heart_hands:

Hi @Twyla
You are right, I was also very happy when I first added my local road here to Google Maps. But the funny thing is that I did it by guesswork without anyone’s help. I submitted the road edit for the first time and it was accepted.

Hey dear @Twyla ,

It was truly a pleasure to share the ā€˜TRAC 2025’ adventure with you and everyone at CLNY; I’ve been a part of it for three years now. Your message truly made my day!

Knowing that I helped inspire you to start making your own edits on Google Maps is fantastic news.

Like many of us, I started my TRAC 2023 journey with 0 roads added and absolutely no experience. It’s true that the initial moments (ehm, those first few weeks, or even months) can be very discouraging.
But as you’ll see, things definitely change!

If you join our discussion group, you’ll always find someone ready to help, share experiences, and, importantly, to lift your spirits when your roads aren’t approved right away.

I’ve already penciled it in my calendar: February 2026, calling Twyla for TRAC 2026! I have no doubt you’ll be right there with us.

I can’t wait to see your future contributions! And thanks again for sharing your exciting news.

Happy Mapping!
Marco

Thank you @NareshDarji!

Thank you again @MarcoDavoli for the encouraging words! I will be well prepared for TRAC by 2026. I have had my first 5 roads approved and the excitement continues to build as others are pending!

You were right about being addicted to editing the map @JustJake. I am just happy to be here to help! Thank you again! Glad to be a student :smiling_face:

Sir,

What did you mean?

Once you get started, it’s a very fun hobby.

In fact, we have a structured annual event around the love of adding roads. It’s just a hobby that can be satisfying and useful for Maps users, but some of us get a little ā€œhookedā€ on the activity. :grin:

Sir, @JustJake
I think Google Maps is more important for roads. So our job is to edit the correct roads together with practical knowledge.

Practical knowledge often necessitates practical solutions. However, if there are only 42 roads as to 21k+, who exactly would you say is implementing that knowledge in a solubale manner?

If it can be completed in a passionate way, filled with fun and joy, then it only makes it that much more meaningful. It doesnt take away the seriousness of anything.

In any area of life, that level of passion yeilds the most delicious fruits of labor. Many would say the numbers speak for themselves. Although, here, we come together to help as a collective.

With that said, its not even about the numbers. Its about helping. @SubhadipHanra, thank you for sharing your practical knowledge. Perhaps, @JustJake could assist you with further implementing it to greater solutions.

Happy Maping Everyone :globe_showing_americas::grin:
