I am soon to receive my first 360 camera. I got the insta 360 RS. 1-in sensor 360 edition. I’m looking to do virtual tours and possibly Google maps photography. Not sure on how to upload or what I can and can’t do on Google maps.
The way to upload 360 pictures is the same of a regular one.
From the Google Maps site or the Phone app.
Alright thank you
Hallo @Copelin
You can find an help about your question directly in the Help Page of Google Maps, available directly in your App: Create & publish Photo Spheres to Google Maps .
- Regular 360° photos can be uploaded in a listing in Google Maps exactly like standard photos.
- Virtual tours are a sequence of connected 360 photos, usually uploaded inside a building. The photos can be connected and uploaded by a third party software.
- Street View is a collection of 360° images at street level captured in video mode, and uploaded in Google Maps by using Street View Studio. For more details you can read Introducing Street View Studio for 360 photographers
Also, please let me inform you that the image you uploaded does not appear to belong to you. As in Connect and in Google Maps we value original content, please remove your photo. For more information please read: How do I follow the original content guidelines on Connect?
@Copelin , the instaone RS is a very cool camera but it does drain battery pretty quickly. You’ll need to sync the camera to your phone or device you plan on downloading your images to through the instaone application. When your using the camera itself you won’t need the app but to save the images; you will. Once your camera is connected via bluetooth and wifi to the device you plan on saving your 360 images to, you can simply click on your library and download the images or videos. Be sure to select 360 , Not Flat. The images will save to your device and you can upload them via the street view studio application or maps. I personally enjoyed the RS when I originally purchased it but the battery drainage and upload speeds require patience. I have the gopro max as well , which is easier to navigate downloads but image quality is a bit less comparable to the lens on the RS. The image you used is from the Google Camera Maps suggestions page so I’m assuming you did your research. I believe you will be happy with the camera if you have good connections and not running on extended times.
This Link should guide you through the manual of your chosen camera type. You can also check out this Link for more info from Google on uploading. I hope you enjoy your new camera! I just used my RS last week and it doesn’t disappoint on captures if you can get past the uploads times from the library.
@TiffanyStockstil thank you so much for the tips and advice I really appreciate it and yes I plan on using it to do Google maps street view content and virtual tours I know it costs a little extra but I’m trying to get the best quality
@ErmesT thank you for the advice I’m not copywriting someone 's images. Just clearly asking for advice. Why is there so many rules on this platform? Would love to use it but every time I post I feel like somebody tells me what I’m not supposed to do.
Not really, @Copelin , we only have a few principles, and the main one is based on respect.
Respect of everyone, respect of originality and respect of their work.
I could say that yours is a very small issue, and for sure the owner of the photo will not complain because you are posting his photo, as you are talking about the brand.
But, and this is the difficult point, how can I respond to a Local Guide that is posting here in Connect Plagiarized content? For everyone’s privacy I will not share any posts, but I can assure you that at least 3 post were removed in the last 30 minutes for that reason.
They can respond that the content in your post is not original too. For me a principle is a principle, and to be respectful we should follow the same principles, don’t you agree?
There is nothing personal in this.
@ErmesT alright
@ErmesT is the new image ok?
Well, I would say that it is an edit of the first image, @Copelin , and this do not transform it in your original content .
But I am sure that, being the happy owner of the same camera, @TiffanyStockstill may share a photo with you and give you the permission of using it.
I would be happy to share one of mine, but I only own two Ricoh Theta V.
My Theta do not have the amazing resolution of your camera (I bought them on 2018) but is making me happy, and gave me the possibility of taking nice shots and to create several blue lines too
Google’s Streetview Contribute Link Provides The Image As Well
Off of the record;), I laughed out loud at the edited version of @Copelin 's change to the image. Thanks for the laugh of the day… Copelin is not using the image in any way that is malicious, however… @ErmesT is correct . Of course, you are not using the image maliciously, but to follow the laws given above this board and to protect yourself in the future, don’t use photos unless you purchase them from stock or get permission. @ErmesT didn’t create the rules., he is just ensuring that users follow them being he is a moderator. @Copelin check out @ErmesT 's page. He’s big into photography as well and you may find his info helpful. You may also want to ensure you copyright your own future work from Insta360 RS ONE
Lastly, this platform can be quite cold, don’t let it discourage you. Follow the rules and you won’t find many comments on corrections, maybe just blank responses. LOL. Good Luck @Copelin ! P.S. Create a New Post when you receive your new Insta360 for feedback. Would love to read it**.** Thanks for marking my response as a resolution as well. I’m glad I was able to help. Stay Golden.
