While contributing photos to Google Maps, I realized something important. When we upload videos to Street View, the system automatically blurs faces to protect privacy.
I feel the same feature should be available for photos uploaded to Google Maps. Many times, even when we try our best to capture places, there might be people in the background. If Google Maps could detect and automatically blur faces in photos, it would make contributions more privacy-friendly and save contributors extra editing work.
This small update can greatly improve trust, privacy, and quality of shared photos.
What do you think, fellow Local Guides? Would you also like to see this feature on Google Maps?
That would be a fantastic feature to have on Google Maps. Face-blurring works so well in Street View, and bringing the same to photo contributions would definitely protect privacy and encourage more people to share pictures without worrying about editing them first. It would also improve the overall trust and quality of the platform.
I donโt test Street View very often, but I will try it too. I hope to receive more responses to this post. It would be ideal if Google had automatic face blurring. Thanks for raising this feature @Gvipin
Before uploading the photo you can blur the image of face for privacy concern as this is moral right of the uploader what to upload what not
As in some update section the pic wanted to be uploaded that sole right .
There are lot of third party apps are there which can blur the face which you can use thatโs my personal suggestion as taking and getting it done by Google need not of process and approval for auto blur.
The form is for Connect-related issues only, so when it comes to Maps-related ideas, we need something else. #ideas might need to be singular and lack specificity for Maps or Connect. We are getting closer.
