Caption Jama Masjid Champaner Pavagarh Archaeological park Gujrat India.
We had a long road trip last year and our last destination was Champaner- Pavagarh Archaeological park Gujrat a World Heritage site and protected monument. We reached by evening on 5th February 2019 and we had our dinner at fun n food that itself was worth. Morning we left Hotel to visit the historical Champaner. From the walled city entrance near Shehr ki masjid we drew the tickets and we were at the major tourist attraction The Jama Masjid.
The Jami Masjid was a major congregational mosque or public mosque in the second Capital of Gujarat when Sultan Mahmud Begada shifted his capital to Champaner. Before shifting he took 23 years to rebuild and this Jama Masjid was also built by Sultan and it was named Mahmudabad. It was early 16th century as he defeated Champaner and Pavagarh army in 1484 AD. This is one of the most visited monument by architectural and art lovers as prayers are abandoned. It’s a part of the Champaner-Pavagarh Archeological Park and a World Heritage Monument. Two minarets about 30 meter high, Central dome, 172 stone columns are supporting the roof, Seven Mehrabs, decorated main entrance, ablution tank, windows, and the prayer hall for veiled ladies at the right side with exquisite stone lattice, carved ornamental work with floral motifs and a best example of Indo Islamic Architecture design based on the Damascus mosque.
Braille details are available at the site for visually impaired people, wheel Chair parking is available but entrance is not available. Drinking water toilets security are the major facilities are available.
It is a magnificent piece of architecture and still tourists remain astonished. We were very impressed and fascinated by this magnificent heritage. This is very suitable attraction for history buffs, Art and Architecture Heritage lovers, wanderes, photo shoot are also getting popular at this site. Best season is October to January and I am sure it will be a thrilling experience.
