I just got back from a trip to the LA area and went the route of experiencing life in the area more as if I lived there rather than just doing the typical tourist thing. I stayed with a friend in a close suburb of LA. The plan was to go clubbing, dining, shopping, and experience not just well known spots, but also local gems such as Taco Navo (home of the world’s best fish tacos).
What is a vacation without sushi? We also dined on all you can eat sushi at Sake 2 Me in Cerritos. It was so much food but oh so good.
We spent one night hitting Long Beach clubs and going where the night took us. There were many opportunities to get into clubs with passes being handed out on the street. Taking this approach we started our night at Sevilla Nightclub and ended up at Shannon’s At The Top.
We also spent time at Universal CityWalk and only shopped there, rather going to the theme park. While there, we bought some tasty treats at It’s Sugar and had fun with the static displays at Things from Another World Comics, where Iron Man blessed me.
Then it was Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville for an amazing salmon dinner with perfect margaritas!
I also had the pleasure of visiting Santa Monica Pier. This is of course a famous landmark and is bustling with life. Will you be lucky enough to be kissed at the end of the pier?
I love enjoying an new area like this with a mix of heading out for the unknown and letting the night life unfold, sprinkling in famous spots, but taking time for enough of the local flavor.
