The coastal region of Konkan is a paradise for food lovers, offering a rich blend of traditional flavors and fresh seafood. During our Diveagar trip, we savored a variety of delicious dishes, and here’s a glimpse into our culinary adventure.
Our day began with a traditional breakfast of Ghavne and coconut chutney. Ghavne, often called Konkan-style rice dosa, is a soft, lacy pancake made from rice flour. Unlike the regular dosa, it is much lighter and pairs perfectly with freshly ground coconut chutney.
Lunch at Prasad Restaurant
For lunch, we headed to Prasad Restaurant in Shrivardhan, a place known for its seafood. Here’s what we tried:
Mackerel Fry: Perfectly spiced and fried to crispy golden perfection, the mackerel was a highlight.
Prawns Thali: This thali was a treat, featuring juicy prawns cooked in a rich, flavorful masala that left us craving for more.
Surmai (Kingfish) Thali: Another standout dish, with a fresh and tender Surmai fry.
For dinner, we opted to enjoy the comfort of a homely meal at our place of stay. Swapn kinara
The next morning, we set off toward Diveagar. Our journey included a stop at the iconic Suvarn Ganesh mandir , which was a spiritual and cultural experience. Outside the temple, we indulged in Ukdiche Modak, a popular Maharashtrian sweet dish.
Made with a soft rice flour shell and a filling of sweet coconut and jaggery, Ukdiche Modak is steamed to perfection, offering a melt-in-your-mouth experience.
For lunch, we tried Rane bandhu kanaval , a popular spot in diveagar.
this trip was a true celebration of Konkani flavors.
If you’re planning a visit, make sure to explore these dishes and savor the culinary treasures.
