The Dongting Lake is one of the most famous lakes of China. It is very big and it is famous in the Chinese culture for being the place where the dragon boat has been originated. I have explored an area of the lake, so that you can have a sight of how does it look. The place is really quiet and the sound of the birds (whose eggs can be even spotted during your trip) will be the only noise you will hear.

In China the lake is very popular but I don’t think it is popular outside China, being far from the biggest cities commonly chosen by tourists (and being far from these cities, also a English language becomes useless, as far from biggest cities nobody speaks English. Anyway I will be staying half of my trip in this area of China, so also near the lake.
