Exploring Northwest Arkansas: Tanyard Creek Nature Park

Tanyard Creek Nature Trail in Bella Vista, Arkansas is a gorgeous place to visit, hike, bike or spend the day with the family. If seeing incredible waterfalls is your thing, this is the place for you. There are multiple sized waterfalls along the creek from Windsor Lake Dam on down. When you start at the parking lot, you can walk up a paved trail and over a David Weimer Trailhead Bridge.

Then it turns into dirt trails. These trails are not hard, but they are rocky and have tree trunks, require occasional light climbing and going down short steep slopes. My Husband and I are senior citizens and my daughter is developmentally delayed, and we had no problems, as long as we were being careful.

I haven’t been able to hike in almost 2 years, and my medical problems keep me in a wheelchair most days. In fact this was the first time I had walked more than a block, but I was willing to risk the consequences. You can bring your dog on the trails as well. If you do please bring a bag and clean up after your dog. Piles of poop on the trail were gross! As you go straight up the trail there will be a sign on the left that says “waterfall”. If you go down there you will find the creek and a small waterfall, very beautiful.

Come back out, continue straight up to the top, there will be a road, walk down to the left to the end. You will pass Lake Windsor on your right on your way. So worth it… .Then go back down. You will find the Dam with a large waterfall and the creek. Fantastic! Continue down and you find more large waterfalls. We went back the same way and the whole thing was only 2 miles. It was a great day! And when I got home I had received my Google Local Guide socks from Germany! Five years as a Local Guide and I am out of the LGBFC! ( Local Guides Barefoot Club) So excited for this perk!

Does anyone know if you can get married at the waterfall? My mom is looking for a small intimate place to get married and they love the outdoors, seems like the perfect spot!
