Exploring markets around Bangkok China Town

Bangkok has one of the world’s largest China Town communities. Within the vast China Town itself, which lines along Yawarat Road, there are many different markets to suit many different types of your shopping preferences. Let’s explore what are some of these markets and what are the type of items they are offering there:

  1. Sampeng market

This open-air market is one of the biggest and most popular places to buy items in bulk at cheap wholesale prices. It is located around Chakrawat Road which crosses the main Yawarat Road. You can find gifts, premiums, toys, snacks, novelties, clothes, t-shirts, cosmetics and many different types of items here. To get here, the best way is to take an express boat or ferry and get off at Tha Ratchawong pier, then walk for about 5 minutes to get to the market. The market is open both during the day and late night (after 2am) so you can choose what time you prefer to visit.

  1. Klong Thom market

This market offers a wide variety of hardware, toys, spare car parts, car accessories, electronic devices, clothing, secondhand items and assorted knick-knacks, to name a few. It is an open air market covering a wide area of Worachak, Charoenkrung and Suea Pa roads and it is about 10-15 minutes walk from the main China Town area. The market is also very popular on late Saturday night where you will find rare collectible items for hobbyists, products for auto mechanics, home entertainment equipment or phone chargers and a lot more.

  1. Suepa market

The great place for mobile phone lovers and techies. The place is located on Suapa road, on the opposite side of Sampeng market and Yawarat road. It has a wide selection of handphones, tablets, mobile accessories, phone cases and everything related to it. You may also buy items in bulk at cheap prices for resale or as souvenirs to give to friends and your loved ones at home.
