You’re too quick @StephenAbraham with your post of our recent exploration in KL (see this post)!! Anyway, here’s my rushed version! As Stephen has mentioned in his post, him, myself and another Local Guide, Stuart was exploring Little India aka Brickfields a couple of days before Deepavali! This was, of course, organised by Stephen because he’s the master of all things KL (and probably Malaysia) related and he suggested a trip down to Little India to see what festivities they have set up for Deepavali!!
By the way, Happy Deepavali (Divali) to all Local Guides who are celebrating! I’m sure you are all busy celebrating with your family, loved ones and friends! I hope that you’re all doing well and enjoying this special day as well as you can!
Back to this post… well, we had a nice little trip around Little India and I just wanted to share the video that I (very quickly) put together. Hopefully, it can show you what the atmosphere is like there! I have to say that the music blaring in the background was much louder than what you’ll hear in the video (I’ve toned it down a bit) and it certainly adds to the festival like feeling!!
Firstly, my family joins me to convey our hearty Diwali Greetings to each one of you, @AdrianLunsong , @StephenAbraham and LG Stewart… May this Diwali bring in a lot of joy and satisfaction.
I have visited Little India in 2015, if I’m correct. Your video was a good refreshing experience for me after so many years… Some of the shots looked familiar in frame - thanks for sharing the same.
All the photos are impressive… But, done are exceptional… Congratulations.
@PaulPavlinovich Oooh… that will be great if I can match my whereabouts with you if and when you’re in Malaysia! Of course, we’ll have to rely on @StephenAbraham on where to go, what to do etc (he’s like a mini version of Google Maps himself!) But yeah, keep me posted on your plans!
The words from the wise for sure @Ewaade_3A !! I definitely have much to learn from @StephenAbraham 's virtual meet-ups as he is really good at multi-tasking and doing his virtual tours so well!
Oh I certainly am enjoying all the sweet treats @Velvel ! I’m lucky to be spending Christmas in the UK (although I doubt I will see any snow) and I’m also heading to Frankfurt in early December so I’ll get to see a proper German Christmas market! Yay!! And then I’ll be back in Malaysia in time for Chinese New Year! Soooo yippee!!
Thanks for the kind words @TravellerG ! To be honest, I wish I had more time to take more photos and videos! It was quite a rush because I had another meeting scheduled later in the day plus…I didn’t actually have a very good set of equipment on me.
I lost my Pixel 6 Pro recently and am now on my backup phone, Pixel 3 XL, which is still good to use but well, it is about 4 years old and there’s no ultrawide lens available. I also irreparably damaged my Insta360 One R camera a month ago so I’ve been using a Sony RX100 M3 camera to do the videos which is fine but that’s 8 years old and it doesn’t have any OIS/EIS so I had to make do with shaky footage! I’m not blaming my tools but it’s tricky to create content with what I have now! Suffice to say, it’s been an expensive time of losses!
Anyway, I hope that you, your family and friends have had a great time celebrating Diwali! Will there be a post showcasing the food and celebrations?
What a colourful post, just like your visit of Little India. I have always wish to explore a multicultural country like Malaysia in festival days, but still never had a luck. Maybe someday I can make it in future.
But your post is a complete package with beautiful videos to see Kuala Lumpur 's beauty.
@StephenAbraham About the sweets… I didn’t take a photo of your sweets although you reminded me to… and then I ate half my box of sweets athome before I remembered to take any photos! So your photo is the only evidence!!
We will definitely welcome you back with open arms @KashifMisidia !! Little India is always fun to take photos of because there’s always the colourful flowers or textiles, the beautiful temples and busyness of life and the warm friendly smiles of the people there!
Ohh… my dear friend, @AdrianLunsong … those are severe losses and very, very sad to read this… In fact, I was just hearing another sad story from my driver who lost his mobile yesterday night… So sad…
You lost quite expensive gadgets and extremely useful ones…
With these blows, still you managed to move on… Congratulations.
Appreciate your positive spirit… Yes, we have to move on… But can be a bit more careful… Right?
To maintain 360 cameras in good condition is an intensive job… I agree…
I could have happily shared some of the advanced cameras, but you are too far off - I added Sony Alpha 6600, a couple of months back…
I’m also a fan of Sony RX 10 M4 - kindly check this camera before buying another one… It is a game maker - an all rounder, I use it very frequently.
Celebrating Diwali
Due to the demise of 2 elderly family members, we did not celebrate Diwali fuly… Onam was celebrated for LG Devi.
