Hi, my dear friends,
The Museum of Arts and Photography (MAP) in Bangalore, India, is a contemporary cultural institution dedicated to showcasing a diverse range of art forms, with a particular focus on South Asian Art and Photography. Opened in February 2023, it was conceived as a ‘space’ to celebrate India’s rich artistic heritage alongside contemporary and experimental works, spanning photography, textiles, sculpture, and painting. There are many artefacts in 3D also.
MAP’s unique approach combines traditional exhibits with digital innovations. It aims to create an interactive visitor experience, offering virtual tours, educational programs, and workshops. I have read that the museum houses over 60,000 artworks, making it one of the most extensive collections in South Asia. Its exhibitions and programs often focus on themes of social relevance, such as heritage, and visual culture’s evolution in a rapidly growing society.
I visited MAP along with our fellow LG @Mukund_hirapara during his visit to Bangalore. We had a wonderful time.
MAP also emphasises accessibility and inclusivity. Its digital collection, MAP Academy, offers a free online encyclopedia of South Asian art, making scholarly and artistic resources available to a global audience.
