Explore Toraja: My Toraja Trip

Toraja/Tana Toraja is located in the north of Makassar City, the capital of South Sulawesi Province. Toraja has a lot of unique culture and ceremonies that you should put on your “Place to visit” plans.

I’ve been here so many times, and I never get bored because of its amazing cultural and natural view on this “Land of The Heavenly Kings”.

I’ll share my experience on visiting Toraja and made some list of the most common tourist attraction that you should visit one day.

  1. Border Bridge of Toraja-Enrekang

The welcome gate of Tana Toraja, people commonly interested to take a picture with this border bridge as their background.

  1. Baba Kanaan Mountain

Welcome border to Makale City, part of Toraya Maelo.

  1. Ke’te Ke’su

One of the oldest village in Toraja, consists of a compound of traditional houses, granaries, burials, ceremonial grounds and also beautiful view.

  1. Jesus Christ Blessing Statue

The tallest statue of Jesus Christ in the world with amazing natural attraction include stunning karst formations and picturesque hills.

  1. Londa Ancient Graveyard

Part of burial cave/hills in Toraja regency with two huge natural caves tower above the village and forests, a silent but prominent part of the fascinating culture.

  1. Lolai Tongkonan Lempe

Located on a highland with traditional houses, you can witness beautiful scenery and stunning clouds clearly here.

  1. Lolai - To’ Tombi, Negeri di Atas Awan

Just come early morning and wait for the beautiful sunrise with coffee and enjoy “The land above the clouds”.

  1. Limbong Natural Pool

An amazing natural pool with clear natural water and beautiful view around it, need an effort to go here because you will face climb steps challenges.

  1. Bori’ Kalimbuang Megalithic sites

Wonderful ancient megaliths site, one of UNESCO World Heritage site which is similar to Stonehenge with its high variously-sized standing rocks known as menhir.

  1. Souvenir center of Rantepao

The center of souvenir markets in Rantepao, make sure you get the things in the right prices.

Tana Toraja is one of my bucket list to visit in South Sulawesi. Hopefully, I could go there with my friends soon (probably this year, huh? :grin: )
