Explore Kerala: Part -1; Calicut - “City of Spices” & its stunning beach - a PhotoWalk - TravellerG

Photo #1; Caption: The cover photo.

Kerala is one (of the smallest states out of the 28 states of India), situated in the southwest of India, like a small strip. The Calicut district is located towards northern Kerala, one of the largest Urban areas. “Calicut” (today’s Kozhikode) was a major trading port of spices (“City of Spices”) during medieval times. It’s also closely associated with the arrival of Vasco da Gama in India.

Photo #2; Caption: The sunset captured from Kozhikode Beach.

“Calicut Beach” is a picturesque destination known for its stunning sunsets and serene atmosphere. The beach features a long stretch of golden sand, dotted with coconut palms and vibrant local life. This long beach is busy with locals and tourists every evening, especially on weekends. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks along the shoreline, explore the historic lighthouse, and enjoy many other entertainments & local eateries.

Photo #3; Caption: Different stone statues on the beach walkway.

The area is rich in culture, with local festivals and events. This is a well-maintained and clean beach, with a beachfront promenade lined with sculptures; it has a boundary wall covered with street art depicting scenes from everyday life.

Photo #4; Caption: A graffiti on the boundary wall.

Our whole family visited the beach once in the morning and again in the evening; we enjoyed it a lot! Here are some shots and collages with explanations, which we captured during our visit, recently.

Photo #6; Caption: Colourful structures on the shore.

Photo #7; Caption: The piers of the olden times getting tired… :pensive: - This bridge itself is an article/post.

Calicut and its beaches are indeed stunning @TravellerG :+1:

Your photos bring out the best of what is available for travelers.

The various decorations, murals, stone art, and colorful structures add to the beauty and enhance the experience at the place.

Surprisingly it is a clean beach too.

The cover photo is also designed impressively.

Eagerly looking forward to the next part of this series :handshake:

Nice photo.

If you don’t mind I can give a tip. Avoid your own shadow in your pictures. Change the angle as many times as possible.

Have an object in your foreground to get 3D effect.

Explore the sea in different angles and different times of a day particularly in the mornings and evenings.

Best wishes.
