Explore Doha City During Your Long Layover in Qatar. কাতারে আপনার দীর্ঘ যাত্রাবিরতির সময় দোহা শহর ঘুরে দেখুন।

Dear my fellow Local Guide,

On July 8, 2024, I was traveling from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Dhaka, Bangladesh, to Lisbon, Portugal , via Qatar Airways. During the journey, I had a 16-hour layover in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

I applied for accommodation 5-6 days before departing from Dhaka. My pre-arranged stopover accommodation request was approved under Qatar Airways’ policy. After arriving at Hamad International Airport and completing all security procedures, I contacted the transfer desk. They verified my passport, boarding pass, and connecting flight, then provided me with a hotel room inside Hamad International Airport to stay in, along with a voucher for 200 Qatari Riyals. The name of my hotel is Oryx Garden Hotel.

Since I have enough time, I thought about how I could use it to explore the beautiful city of Doha.
So, I booked a Doha city tour with Discover Doha; it took about 4 hours to explore the beautiful downtown Doha. I probably paid 125 Qatari Riyals. And for the Qatar visa, it’s just a matter of whether someone has a Schengen Area’s permanent residence.

Explore the following popular attractions during Doha city tour.

*Katara Cultural Village
*The Pearl Island
*Museum of Islamic Art
*Souq Waqif Traditional Marketplace

Inclusions and What to Expect:
• Transportation in an air-conditioned coach
• Pick-up from Doha International Airport and drop-off after the tour
• Complimentary Wi-Fi
• Complimentary water

Please note that the weather in Qatar is extremely hot during the day, which is why I chose to stay on the coach for most of the tour, as I couldn’t bear the heat.

Following the recommendation from the hotel reception, I decided to have lunch at the Basta Qatari restaurant. I ordered the Qatari Lamb Biryani (Marget Jadeti), and it was delicious. I paid for my meal using the voucher they provided. This restaurant is located inside Hamad International Airport.

After completing my exploration of Doha, I added it to my list of traveled destinations for the 19th century. My next travel destinations include the USA, Canada, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. I hope to visit all of these countries by 2027.

Yes, if you have a long stopover and get such an opportunity, it will be more enjoyable. But in reality, such opportunities are not always available. Thank you for your valuable comments @fachrie230

@GolamAgam vai,
Yes, overall, everything was good. If I had known you lived there, we could have caught up for coffee or tea. Thank you so much

@AbdullahAM vai, Thank you very much for your kind words.

Brother, this agreement is impressive; however, there is a significant disparity. Not all destinations offer the same opportunities. Even if you have more than an 8-hour layover, the application for pre-accommodation is often denied. I understand that this is a business policy.

Both pictures are quite similar. The designer of Hamad Airport likely drew inspiration from that concept. @TusharSuradkar, thank you very much for sharing your valuable insights.

Thank you so much for your kind words.
During my time in Singapore, I visited Batam Island several times and made a trip to Jakarta once. There are multiple daily ferry services from Harbourfront Ferry Terminal in Singapore to Batam Centre Point International Ferry Terminal in Indonesia, and the trip takes only about one hour. This made it very convenient for me while I was in Singapore. By the way, which part of Indonesia @SetyawatiAnik are you from?
