I do not understand .
Who are the experts?
Simply users or someone else of another level?
Hahaha @To_paul I do not know either.![]()
@To_paul this might be one of those things that comes by default with the 3rd party forum software Google is using for Connect, but is not actively used on this particular forum. I have checked some posts with loads of likes, and also in those cases there were no likes from Experts.
A remarkableobservation @To_paul
Expert is a role (that can be attributed to Moderators and/or to active high level members) not activated here in Connect, but visible on the list of likes, because it is (as indicated by @JanVanHaver ) a standard functionality of the forums hosted by the third party platform where Connect is.
A like given by an âexpertâ (on the forum where this function is active) have a value that depends of the level of the expert, and is a multiple of a standard like.
I think you know @Austinelewex , but you donât want to tell me
@JanVanHaver sorry, why did you check out posts with lots of likes?
@To_paul just to see if those might have anything under this Experts tab. And as even those did not have anything there, I drew the conclusion I metioned before - which was in the meantime confirmed by @ErmesT
@C_T I am trying to find out who the experts are and to observe how they proceed. Only that
@JanVanHaver to understand that a post with only five likes cannot be validated by the expert?
There are no Experts on this Local Guides Connect forum @To_paul . The possibility to work with Experts is part of the functions available in the forum-software that Google uses for this forum (which causes the word âExpertsâ to show up on a few places), but is not used on Connect.
@JanVanHaver understand that the icon cannot be deleted from there?
Exactly, it is there by default but not actively used. If you look at your Connect profile, you will see a bunch of other things that are available in the software but not used here on Connect, as you can see in this screenshot
I noticed that a moderator appreciates something and that another moderator appreciates something different, I also noticed that a cycle of moderators in the forum is respected
It can not be a good post but with a few likes to lose?
Check the moderator that displayed two weeks ago when another moderator was active?
@JanVanHaver I noticed but thought they were dedicated to moderators
The role of Moderators, @To_paul , especially of Google Moderators, is to âmoderateâ.
This includes a lot of different activities, that includes answering to all the post where they are tagged, releasing post from spam, keeping Connect clean and, for the Google Moderators, much more than this.
So I will not use a missing like from a Moderator as a signal that some Moderator do not appreciate a post, nor that a Moderator was/wasnât active on a certain period of time
Connect Moderators are volunteers, and they are not online all the time. Myself, (I am quite active) I had two very busy weeks, and I will probably be more busy on the next month. I know I am missing a lot of post (and some tag too). BTW this is the life.
Back to the question on your post, âexpertâ is just one of the various âstandard featuresâ and maybe cannot be removed in a simple way.
The âexpertâ role is BTW very important in Technical Forum, where an expert can really give a meaningful like
This is not an issue, and Connect is a very âdemocraticâ place. Can you imagine what would happen if the like of a moderator had a higher value than that of another Local Guide?
So I hope it will never happen
@To_paul iam thinking Experts are the googlers or the google personal from a related field of interest where the post is coming from. What do U think @Austinelewex ?
I did not discuss the role of moderators Conect, I understood their role and status for a long time.
I have never thought that democratic norms are being violated here
It seemed to me that Google moderators are changing; in two or three weeks, maybe Iâm wrong
I think they also choose good posts and pictures.
I was referring to the possible fact that a Google moderator likes Lisbon and another Google moderator likes Atlanta
If a user adds a post about Lisbon while the moderator who loves Atlanta is present, arenât they likely to miss the post about Lisbon?
I was talking about probabilities
I mention that I do not discuss my pictures and posts
@MrBest You may be right.
@To_paul I think that the section is exclusive for Google personnels.
That is why LGs see nothing in that section.
@MrBest I understand that they are active on another forum, the technical one
I hope Iâm not mistaken
