A few years ago, I lived on May 29th Street, one of the main and crowded streets in the center of the capital, Damascus.
The area is characterized by its financial nature, it is full of banks and exchange offices, in addition to that it contains some night clubs.
I spent years of life on that beautiful street, and I still remember it step by step.
One day my friend came on a visit to my house, and we decided to stay up tonight and have some fun.
We were feeling very tired, as a result of a hard day spent shopping at Al Hamidiyeh Market (which is one of the most famous historical markets in Damascus).
We went out to the street and started looking for the closest place to have fun tonight.
At the beginning of our research, we found a place very close to my home. This place has a completely black front, and it looks very boring from the outside. I have never even bothered myself to ask what it contains.
My friend has a very curious character, he came in front of me and decided to enter this place. I looked up and found a black banner reading “A lwaseem” at his entrance. A strong man appears as a security guard standing at the entrance.
My friend asked the man about this place and he told him that it is a night club, so these words were a gift from heaven, and we entered immediately.
We were shocked by the loud atmosphere inside, the appearance of the place on the outside does not at all indicate what is contained inside it.
It was a very beautiful night, and we did not expect to spend it this special way, as we enjoyed belly dancing, singing and alcohol.
The next day after I woke up, I immediately added this place to Google maps.
I liked to mention my previous experience, in order to point out that there are always new, beautiful and distinctive places to explore, even in the closest areas to your home, and these places deserve to be added to the maps, so that everyone else can enjoy them.
After a few months I got a message from google maps, wow, surprise, this place got 250,000 hits on maps!
It was very joyful news for me, as I was able to offer a great participation to my community and everyone who likes to have some fun.
Since then, I have become very excited about sharing locations, photos, and more on maps.
In general, the Local Guide experience is a very rich experience, and I am happy that I am a member of this large family.
