The Local Guide Program is an everyday companion not only in my casual daily routine, but also during travels. It is a perfect tool for people that are curious of the world, as well as for those who want to make the other people to be curious about the world. The key word for this kind of activities is “Local”, because there is no better way to tell the world about our neighborhood, our favorite corner-cafe or grocery shop than the people that go there everyday - us. The Program created an unique opportunity for me to show my small world to anybody wanting to discover it. It is also the way to tell them about the best places for coffee & donuts or where to have a not-too-expensive, tasty lunch and even show the best gas station on my way to work. It also a big fun to add a new road or a new place, so that the others could get to know about it.
On the other hand, when I am in a new place, I use the information added by the guides, that are local for the place.
This is the network with endless connections and junctions, millions of places and opinions, that have a strong and noticeable impact on millions of people daily. As a proof for it, its the first place for me and many other people to get the information about new place we don’t know. If there is a photo and opinion from Local guide, I an assume that there is a lot of truth in this words.
There is no proper word or phrase in English, that could describe the feeling and meaning of the Local Guide Program to me. Saying that “It’s very important” would be like saying that the Great Pyramid of Giza is “Just a big rubble heap”.
