This weekend, I paid a trip to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. As a SoFlo native, this showing of architectural feat was a news topic for many months leading to it’s grand opening. To see the photos and coverage online and on TV is one thing - to see it in person is another.
The Guitar Hotel can be seen from many miles away from it’s epicenter across the Miami-Dade and Broward Counties - if you’re at a high altitude, you’ll more than likely spot this tower as it stands at 450 feet into the sky and is outfitted with floor-to-ceiling glass panes. If you happen to be on a flight landing at Fort Lauderdale International Airport, you may have the best seat in the house as you fly by not only the tower brightly lit, but also the high beams that stretch from the Guitar neck into the sky. Aside from looking from the outside, you can be one of the lucky guests staying in one of the more than 600 rooms in the Guitar.
The interior is also marvelous as well - there is a beautifully crafted fountain near the lobby that is refreshing, beautiful, and makes for the perfect photo spots. Other new additions to the hotel in general include an all day club, a man-made beach and Oasis, new restaurants, and so much more.
Visiting is free for anyone who is interested in seeing the property - so you can take in the energy and beautiful in marveling as this creative structure. Despite there being a casino, the environment is very friendly and fun for families as well. It was quite a treat taking in the revitalization that was sparked by this grand Guitar. Fellow Local Guide @InnocensiaO also had the chance to visit the Guitar and can attest to it’s intrigue.
Are there any out-of-the-box structures or towers in your city or town? Would love to see them!
That looks amazing! I’ve never heard of this hotel or even seen photos of it. Is it dedicated to someone famous? Do you know who is the architecture behind it? Did you stay overnight? It looks really cool.
Many years ago I read a book about the life of Osceola, an influential leader of Seminole people. Today I notice that only one huge ,Gibson guitar, was able to conquer some of the “unconquered people.”
I also read that in the Seminole Tribe of Florida the opinions about the huge project are still different.
Hi @SP31 thank you for sharing with us your journey to this artistic tower, it really looks amazing and I was wondering what is that blue line shooting to the sky, is it a search light light or what? Here in South Africa I do not know of any buildings built any form similar to any item or an object, when ever I come across it I will share it here. Thank you.
@To_paul I have heard the same actually about the indifference between those in the tribe and the viewpoint about the casino, and now, this billion dollar structure. I truly feel this debate will continue as they continue to expand. I did not know about Osceola himself so thank you for sharing that bit of historical information.
@DanniS Thanks! It is actually a result of the Seminole Tribe in association with the Hard Rock Hotel brand. So while it isn’t dedicated to any one in particular, I am sure they will hold tributes to certain rock stars by using the lighting system. The architects were Klai Juba Wald Architects. I wish I could have a chance to stay - prices are well above $500 average haha!
@Raphael-Mahumane thank you! haha it isn’t a searchlight but it is kind of like how certain movie premiers have lights that shoot into the sky, but this one is fairly static and more powerful.
@YasumiKikuchi It surely is! The light doesn’t seem to “grow,” unfortunately but that would definitely have been an incredible feat! It turns on and off at certain points, however.
@SP31 Oh wow, nevertheless, it’s a really cool hotel to visit for sure! And hopefully one day you get to stay overnight! I’m curious what kind of decor they have in the rooms.
I’ve read about this hotel in the news, @SP31 ! it looks like it meets if not exceeds expectations. And I’m jealous you got to hang with @InnocensiaO !
Thanks @JordanSB ! The funny thing is actually @InnocensiaO and I visited the Guitar as separate times but did meet up over the weekend and discussed that and other things while catching up haha.
There were a slew of new, very high-end restaurants - I spotted a Japanese or Korean (can’t remember), a new steakhouse, and more in addition to the standard Hard Rock Cafe, food court, and other options. As you could imagine, the prices for the new restaurants were high lol.
It’s look exotic hotel. First time reading about guitar shaped hotel. It is definitely will be interesting to visit a unique hotel as Seminole hard rock hotel . Surely one day I will visit USA and when the time comes , I will likely find my way to Florida to see this marvellous hotel.
