In order to participate on the T100 leader boards, we all need to check and where necessary update the metrics at least once every month. In the past, we needed to open our Maps profile in public (incognito) mode and enter our numbers manually.
Four months ago an enhancement was implemented (see Improved Maps data updating on T100 System ) by providing a bookmarklet, the T100 Scout, which partially automated the process. So no more remembering and typing numbers, as some clicks and a paste would update the table besides some more improvements:
- A single table instead of two browser pages
- Automatic gathering of most metrics using the new T100 Scout
- Real time calculation of the delta compared to the previous month’s value
- A streamlined and clearer documentation
Now, the T100 Scout has been replaced by Satellite Scout, which is also a purposefully designed program that does the intelligence gathering for you, but eliminating more clicks than before and improved accuracy.
Follow the steps described under Satellite Scout Install (under the Data Entry → Maps Data → T100 SATELLITE SCOUT SETUP menu option) to install it.
Important: The installation and usage of the T100 Scout button can only be done on a desktop computer and not under Android and very likely, not under iOS neither! But if you use a smartphone or need to update any metrics manually, you also need to open the menu option Data Entry → Satellite Scout Data Entry Maps Data
If you are using a mobile phone or an Apple computer, you can open the table as described below and enter the metrics manually. The instructions assume using Chrome as the browser. Other browsers (Edge, Opera .. etc) may or may not work (Firefox, for example) and steps to install might be different.
Edge did work very similar to Chrome and it also worked with Opera for me, but after installing Satellite Scout, I not only needed to set the option “Allow in private windows”, but also “Allow access to Websites with search results”.
I used it successfully several times on Windows 10, but haven’t heard of any problems using Windows 11.
Some users reported problems with Apple computers. Please let us know, if anybody was able to use the Satellite Updater with iOS.
I was not able to install the Satellite Scout extension in Firefox, since there is no “Load unpacked” button.
To check your data and where necessary update at the end of the month or any time during the month, select Satellite Scout Data Entry Maps Data (under the Data Entry menu option).
Similar to before, you see a frame with Updating Instructions at the top of the page and a table showing the metrics of the previous month below.
Click the light blue button i and read carefully the detailed instructions. After doing so, click ACKNOWLEDGE to return to the T100 Updater page.
To start collecting your metrics, just click the dark blue button START MAPS UPDATER. Unlike with the previous solution (the “T100 Scout” bookmarklet), you do not open the incognito workbench window manually as it will open automatically instead. However, the following paragraph may still apply.
If opened from inside the European Union (EU) all Websites using cookies need to inform the user and ask for consensus. This also applies to Google and it presents a page “Before you continue to Google” with a description how they use or information. If you see that page, do not click the blue “Sign in” at the top of the page, instead scroll to the bottom and click “Accept All”
After that, you will see your Maps profile as seen by other users. Again, do not sign in. Your profile should be shown now as other users can see it using English language titles, even if you normally use Google in a different language.
You should see the Photos tab now, but do not touch neither keyboard nor mouse now.. Several windows will appear with changing contents, such as this one:
After a minute or two a new dialog should appear showing: “Mission Accomplished”.
Click the Dismiss button and compare the values in your Satellite Scout Data Entry table with your profile shown in the workbench. To show the updated values, you may need to refresh (Ctrl-R or F5) the browser window showing the Satellite Scout Data Entry table.[1]
As with the old method for Maps Data Entry, you should verify the gathered metrics and update manually if necessary. This is always necessary for your photo and video badge data, as well as review views and reactions, which are shown only in the mobile Maps app. @PrasadVR kindly provided instructions how to read and add the badge data in his article How to Update Your Mobile Data on the T100 System.
When the values are updated, as described before, the right most Δ DELTA column shows the difference from last month for each metric. Check Scout’s intelligence paying particular attention to the deltas. Any unusually large deltas might indicate an error. This is very useful as some users in the past have dropped a digit or added an extra digit grossly overstated or understated their metrics.
You can always manually override any metric value and the beauty of this new system is that it’s like a spreadsheet. If you change a value the delta is automatically updated so you are immediately alerted.
After verifying all metrics click the yellow SAVE DATA TO CLOUD button to submit your monthly update to the database of the T100 system and you should see the DATABASE UPDATED popup:
Click the green “EXCELLENT” button to return to your dashboard table.
All this might sound complicated but in reality it’s a fairly easy and simple process. After having done it once or twice, it shouldn’t take any longer than in the past and the beauty is, in my opinion the format is much better now. You get more useful information, the monthly deltas are always at your fingertips.
Thanks a lot to @AdamGT for your tireless work to get this implemented! The T100 System just keeps getting better and better!
Now local guides can sync and save there data as many times as they like to test and learn how to use this new way of doing things and only just before the end of the month is the last values of the data read for the leader boards. You all can test as many times as you like.
I suggest to to do so as soon as possible, well before the end of the month and add a comment here if you have any problems or suggestions to improve this new feature.
P.S. In case not everybody did read this: Update to Contribution Stats: Merging "Facts checked" into "Answers" : Since September 2026 we have on metric less, because “Facts checked” counts did merge into “Answers”. That means, “Facts checked” are zero and answers did increase by the amount deducted from “Answer”.
However, two other metrics appeared, as you can see here.
This may not be necessary. ↩︎
