Ephesus ancient city

Hello my dear lg friends. I have shared many posts before, but many moderators, including my friends, asked me to share information about the ancient city of Ephesus, in particular. I prepared a detailed Ephesus presentation for you.

First of all, I must say that if you want to visit this place, I recommend you to choose especially the spring and autumn periods. You can stay in sweat as in the photo. Summer is very hot in western and southern turkey.

By the way, I took my photos with my iphone and canon d600 model camera and all pictures are mine

Brief history of ephesus

Ephesus dates back to about 600 years before Christ. It is one of the most important port cities of the region. The Temple of Artemis in Ephesus is considered one of the seven wonders of the world. The first archaeological excavations in Ephesus were carried out by J.T. It was started by Wood in 1869. Ephesus was registered as a World Heritage Site in 2015.Now hold on tight. We all know the Nike brand. So where does the Nike symbol come from? Named in Greek mythology, Nike, with its Greek pronunciation, Nee-key literally means victory. It is known as Victoria in Roman Mythology and a similar work is found in the ancient city of Ephesus.

How do I go to Ephesus?

The easiest way to go to Ephesus, especially for tourists coming from abroad, is to go to Izmir airport and take a transfer vehicle from there. According to google maps, there is a 45-minute land journey between the airport and Ephesus Antik itself.

where can I stay?

Since settlement is not allowed around the ancient city, you cannot find a hotel nearby. However, after 10-15 km, there are many options in the hotels area. These are both gem-star hotels and boutique hotels. My advice to you is to prefer boutique hotels. You can reach many places that you do not know. Google is the savior here, as always. As you can see in the screenshot, many hotels are located in the plain.

what can i eat?

Turkey is a very rich country in terms of food variety. You will never have any problems with food. However, it varies in different regions. For example, while meat dishes in the south and cold are famous, there are more olive oil dishes and vegetable dishes in the Aegean. Spinach and leek pastries are very famous. I am giving you a few restaurant locations that you have tried and satisfied with yourself. If you are in the area, I would definitely recommend you to eat there.

what can i do around?

There are many historical and touristic places to visit in the vicinity. I can recommend the list of places you should definitely visit in the region, including Eges, as follows:

  • Artemis temple
  • celcius library
  • Terrace houses
  • the House of the Virgin Mary

And if you have a vehicle or a workshop, I recommend you to visit the touristic area of Sirince. I will share it with you in the following days. If you like wine, it is the right place.

General advice

yes, friends, I tried to help the families as much as I could. As a budget, between 50-100 dollars per day will take you around very comfortably.

The places look magnificent @Gezendunyali

But they appear to be in ruins.

Curious if it was an earthquake or did invaders destroyed them, like most monuments in India?

Thank you my friend @TusharSuradkar . yes, unfortunately, the region is an earthquake zone, it has an effect, but unfortunately our country was a place where many wars took place, so there are also artifacts that were missed a lot. :pray:t2:

This presentation really captures the ancient beauty and mystery of Turkey. The recommendations are so helpful, as well as the maps and photos. Everything was taken into account for the comfort of a world traveler or a tourist with a perfect vacation in mind, including when to visit, options for lodging and meals. Amazing! I feel like an experienced guide just showed me a little piece of the wonder that awaits a visit to this country rich with history.

Hi @Gezendunyali ,

Thanks for sharing your great experience with us!

I wanted to let you know that I will increase the size of the photos you published so we can see the details better. Another recommendation I have is to add captions to the photos, to help us understand what we are looking at.

Thanks for your help @Bobiisha When uploading from the phone, the size can be a problem. Since the photos are in general, I couldn’t put a lot of captions, but I will go into more detail after that:smiling_face: :+1:t2:
