I followed the standard procedure to embed a map in a post:

Go to Google Maps and browse to the desired location.

From the menu, select Share or Embed Map.

From the dialog box that appears, take the Embed a Map tab at the top.

Select a size for the map from the drop-down.

Click on Copy HTML which is an iframe tag.
Back to the Post in Connect.

Click the HTML button.
-
Add a tag ![]()
and insert the iframe HTML copied from Google Maps.

A preview of the map appears in the Edit mode.
When I click Save Changes, the map is not displayed in the post.
Anyone know why?

Hi @TusharSuradkar , Thanks for reaching out. I’m afraid that the use of Iframe on Connect is no longer available, except for Moderators.

As indirectly hinted you are mixing up two methods of inserting something into a post. Html code designed to create an iframe can not just be added as if it was an image. What you can do is to show a static image (share a screenshot) or you can post a link to the map, that your readers then can click/tap to see the map you want them to see. Info on position and zoom level are integrated in the long URLs on Google Maps when using Desktop.

I have no confusion whatsoever about inserting images in a post nor I have mentioned anything about inserting images.

Finally, No, inserting static images or links is not what I seek. It does not serve my purpose, hence my investigation and the question.
If the map embedding is not working, then it is clearly not working. I was only seeking some hint that I was perhaps missing.
I know you are trying to say something here, my friend. Perhaps I am not able to comprehend fully.

I was trying to be helpful in a friendly and constructive tone. Here is another way of telling you the same thing: You are not allowed to embed anything in iframes. It gets stripped when posting. The stripping takes place after you post - hence the difference in edit vs final post.

To go a bit in deep with the answers you received by @AlexandreCampbell and @MortenCopenhagen , the use of I-frame is blocked on Connect, because through I-frame you can embed also not appropriate contents.
Moderators are allowed to use I-frame, but you will see very rarely a map embedded in Connect, because normally the moderators use I-frame only if necessary.

From the response by @AlexandreCampbell and @MortenCopenhagen it is amply clear that iframe is restricted to moderators and not allowed for other LGs.

I researched a bit online about iframe and this website says it can be used to embed another document within the current HTML document, which I too think could potentially produce an undesirable outcome.
I wish I could accept multiple solutions on this forum, but I will save that for a different topic.

I wanted to add a note only to explain why an I-frame instruction will be automatically removed by the software, even if you can see the results on the preview.
Potentially dangerous code are automatically removed from Connect, before the post to go live. I know that for the Local Guides who are trying to post appropriate contents, like a map or a 360 photo, this can be frustrating, but I support, for the safety of the community, the actual situation, and I simply try to not abuse of the permission that I have for the use of I-frame
