A lot of points of interest created on google maps appears with wrong categories. Sometimes a Church is classified as Market probably because of proximity to a Market or outright error, while some are created without category. In other situations, generic categories are used like “corporate office”, “place of worship”, “church”, “school” etc. No doubt using a specific category will grant a user of google map a better experience. Giving St Peter’s Anglican Church the category of place of worship will be wild, because Mosque, Hindu Temple, Shrines, Synagogues are all places of worship, tagging it a church sound okay but not really specific because “Anglican church” exists as a category to best describe it. This meet up will discuss how to use appropriate category for excellent editing. I will do a presentation and share my experience editing Schools, LGAs, Churches and other POIs previously given generic classification. Fun Game: Select Local Guides will be required to a song that keeps them going in challenging times like the covid era.

Editing is very important in making the information about a Point of Interest as accurate as possible, apart from the 5 points earned for each approved edit. We shall be brainstorming on how to use the suggest edit option in improving Google Map experience. On Saturday 4th July 2020 we shall be looking at how to make specific categorization. Why not use High School instead of School ? Besides, I will sing and you too will. Please join me
