Editing Costco blocked?

I went to several different Costco locations in Google Maps. Many are not showing the pharmacy, food court, optical, and tire shop within Costco [warehouse] where it should be.

I tried to change this but when I went to select “Located Within Costco Warehouse _______” the submit button is grayed out.

Is the one of the newest nuances for Google Maps?

Hi @Hmm777

Please share Maps links to the pin and which pin you think it is located in for a check.

Cheers

Morten

Hi @Hmm777 and @DeniGu

I can now confirm this bug.

As seen here

The submit button is grey even though I just filled the Located in field.

See

Should be located in

https://maps.app.goo.gl/Tk8oSq1XpEzAmRr4A

I changed a bit in the address and the button got blue.

@Hmm777 and @DeniGu

I just checked and my edit got approved. But the grey button needs to be escalated.

Thanks

Morten

Hi @MortenCopenhagen ,

What change did you make to the address to make the button turn blue? That’ll be helpful info to share with the responsible team.

Hi @DeniGu

I removed the “Forum xxx” redundant info from the address field. That part got approved. But the located in was obviously not approved.

Here is another try documented in a video.

https://youtu.be/BWNxV2YvTYg?si=aFr4joOoog3nA3_5

Video description:

Demonstration of Send button remaining grey after adding new info in the Located-In field. Plus workaround to make it blue!

PS The Forum pin did not show up on the drop down list in my first attempt. Don’t know why. Not my mistake

I have one more relevant observation to share on this:

Yesterday I made a bunch of Located-in edits to some pins in Copenhagen. Not once did I see the Send button not turn blue! So it might be an issue isolated to some regions.

They are all still pending.

Cheers @DeniGu

@DeniGu

And now I got this one

Most likely from the video I made. It could be the workaround edit to the address text that got approved or the Located-In edit. Who know with those new degrated email notifications.

In my in-app edit contribution list I see this

Sorry it is in Danish. It says the Map Marker was updated. I did not even touch the pin location as you can see in the video. I suppose this could mean either the located in or the fake address text change.

Cheers

Morten

Hi @MortenCopenhagen ,

Thank you for the video and screenshots! It could be a regional thing, as I wasn’t able to replicate it.

In any case, I’ll alert the team about your experience.

Hi again @MortenCopenhagen and @Hmm777 ,

If you’re editing a place soon that’s located within another business, please let me know if you still see a grayed out “Submit” button.

Hi @DeniGu

I’m not sure what the word “soon” means in your reply.

I checked

https://maps.app.goo.gl/GyqDfmxt9csQuBTp7

After hitting see all (before hitting “Suggest an edit” I see this

It is clearly already located inside the Forum shopping center.

After hitting Suggest an edit I see this:

The located in field was empty so I entered the Forum shopping center. And now the button is still grey.

They are probably related. If the UI thinks I did not add anything new it should remain grey. But the field was empty! I swear :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I hope this helps.

Morten

Hi @DeniGu

I’m now pretty sure that the main problem is not the grey button but the fact that the Located in field is not visibly filled when editing a location that is already located inside another place.

I’m using the latest Android app. And I have not checked this on Desktop.or ios.

Cheers

Morten

Hi @MortenCopenhagen ,

I heard back from the team looking into this issue, and it should be resolved now. If you get to use the Located within field on some of your next edits, let me know if it works as expected.

It is always great to get some feedback, @DeniGu . Thanks.

I started editing the Burger King and the located in field was no longer empty. This in turn fixed the issue with the grey Submit button.

So I can confirm the problem was fixed.

Thanks again

Morten
