Edit Pending Approval for Burger Company ITIS – Any Tips?

Hi Local Guides, :waving_hand:

I recently suggested an edit for Burger Company ITIS on Google Maps, and I received a notification that my edit is currently pending review. I understand that edits go through moderation and accuracy checks, but sometimes the approval process takes longer than expected.

Has anyone here experienced similar delays with business edits? :three_o_clock:

How long did it usually take for your edits to be reviewed?

Are there any best practices to make edits more likely to be approved quickly?

Would attaching supporting evidence (like photos or websites) help in getting faster approval?

I’d really appreciate any advice or insights from fellow Local Guides! :folded_hands:

It is really a good question, @Afzal-Hossain. I would like to hear the opinion from other Local Guides, let me try to tag my friend @MortenCopenhagen, he has many experience on this matter.

Thanks, @Erna_LaBeau

I need to know more, @Afzal-Hossain

Are you somehow related to the owner of this business?

What does the last 4-letter word mean?

What category did you suggest?

Please share the maps link to a dropped pin where the business is located?

When did you try to add it?

Did you add any photos?

Did you add a website and phone number?

Maybe some of the tips in this post can help you

Hello @MortenCopenhagen,

Thank you for your response and guidance. Please find my answers below:

Are you somehow related to the owner of this business?
I am an employee of this business. The business owner personally requested me to add the business to the map.

What does the last 4-letter word mean?
The last 4-letter word β€œITIS” refers to the name of the shopping center. This is a franchise location of a burger company, and we use this word to easily identify the specific store.

What category did you suggest?
I suggested the category Fast Food Restaurant.

Please share the maps link to a dropped pin where the business is located?

When did you try to add it?
I attempted to add the location one day ago. The owner has also tried multiple times, but the request has not been approved.

Did you add any photos?
Yes, I uploaded one photo of the storefront.

Did you add a website and phone number?
Yes, both the website and phone number were added.

Thanks for your precise answers.

As a Local Guides we signed up as private individuals not representing any businesses. If employees start favoring and helping select businesses the credibility of our reviews get jeopardized.

The solution in your case is not to use your private Local Guides account to add your workplace.

Instead you need to use your employees account or create a new dedicated Google account for the business.

Then the business can be added using this other account to create the new Maps Listing. There is a separate procedure called:

Add your business to Maps for free.

And there is a dedicated help system for business owners found here:

Please don’t risk your Local Guides status by getting caught in Conflicts of interests.

One last thing.

Please don’t add the shopping center reference in the name field. There is a dedicated field for this called Located in.

Best of luck

I understand your point, and I agree that Local Guides should not use their accounts to promote or favor businesses. In this case, my intention is not to promote the company but to genuinely help customers who are struggling to find the location on Google Maps. Many people search for this place but cannot locate it accurately, which creates confusion.

The business owner has already tried multiple times using the method you suggested, but the request has still not been approved. Could you please share why it might not be getting approved even after submitting the correct details (photos, website, phone number, etc.)? Are there any specific reasons or common issues that usually cause rejections in such cases?

Hi @Afzal-Hossain

There can be hundreds of potential reasons. Again, your issue is not related to being a Local Guide, so you will need to seek help in the GBP community.

Thank you for clarifying. I appreciate your guidance and will reach out to the GBP community for further assistance.
