eating cherry blossoms in Japan

Hello everyone. My name is Jia. Today, I want to tell you how to eat cherry blossoms.

You didn’t hear it wrong, don’t doubt your ears, I did say eating, (to be precise, including drinking) cherry blossoms.

It is world-famous that Japanese like cherry blossoms In the Japanese traditional concept, after a short bloom like a cherry blossom, falling with the wind, is not only a beauty, but also a realm. But besides admiring the cherry blossoms, they also eat cherry blossoms, do you know this?

Here, I mainly introduce two ways to eat cherry blossoms.

The first is cherry cake,

cherry cake is made of glutinous rice with cherry blossom juice (this will make the glutinous rice appear pink, very beautiful, and have a floral fragrance), and sweet red bean paste is wrapped in it. The outermost is the salted leaves of the cherry tree. I think if there is no explanation, even if some people think of eating the petals of cherry blossoms, they would not have the idea of eating leaves of cherry blossom trees. Moreover, the sweet bean paste with a slight salty taste and the special fragrance of the leaves make this cherry cake taste very unique. Even if you don’t like it after eating it, as a traditional Japanese pastry, I highly recommend to try it. At least, I believe you will not regret.

Here is the photo of cherry cake. Isn’t it beautiful?

The second is cherry blossom wine and cherry blossom tea

Cherry blossoms can be put not only in pastries, but also in drinks. In Japan, people usually put cherry blossoms in tea or wine. The cherry blossoms floating in light green tea or transparent wine are not only for viewing, but also for eating.
