I am Mohamed Riyas. I am new to Local Guides Connect. So let’s start with a quick intro. Basically i am a Software Engineer hail from Kerala, India and currently working in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I joined as a Local Guide 3 or more years ago.
You know Each and Every Location is Important in Google Maps and the real world. I started my journey with Google Mapping services like Google Earth and Google maps from 2008 and i am an extensive user of Google Map today. Even i go to a unknown place Google map always my strength to Go forward and reach my destination without any hassle.
So Importance of each and every location, business and everything must be added to Google maps even its small or not. Because Google maps is used by a lot of people today. so we are indirectly helping those to reach their destination or find their favorite food or anything in a new place.
Let’s come to my Story.
I recently moved to Kuala Lumpur and It’s my first foreign country so far. I don’t know any one in Kuala Lumpur but i started my journey with confidence because Google Maps will take me to my destination. Since i reach here its around 60 Kms from Airport to Main City. I asked the Google Map to find the transportation. I found the best travel mode from Airport to KL Sentral using Google Maps. It’s the Fastest Airport transfer in Malaysia (KLIA Ekspress). It took only 33 Mins to cover 60 Kms then my concern is about to find my hotel. I just took a taxi and just told the name and area to the driver. We finally arrived in our destination but its a vast area and i couldn’t find the hotel there. i checked in Google Maps and i found the right path to the hotel. That hotel is just a small business type. What if they didn’t added in Google Maps?. it’s hard to find right? Here Google Maps make the task easy again for me. Since then i am new to the city Restaurants, Nearest Train Station, Nearest ATM everything found using Google Maps. All kinds of Small small things must be added to Google maps. Since large business or famous place is easy to Find even without Google Maps we must focus on Small stuffs.
Marking a closed business also important like adding a small business into the Google Maps, When ever i found a business is closed i immediately mark it as closed in Google maps. Since me and my team started as Local Guides we added Cafeteria, Small Hotels added photos, Made reviews on Local items available there etc.

Another small business i added in Maps. Now lots of people tasting the cheap and best food.
Now a days people search first in Maps to find a business. so it’s a great way to grow your from Small Business to a large scale business. So consider to add more Small Business to Google Maps and Help the world through your finger tips.
