Dog friendly or not? Check the reviews!

What I love most about being a local guide is the ability to influence where someone chooses to eat for dinner, potentially driving new business to a local operation, and sharing tips or deals with others.

Many people check reviews when searching for a restaurant or business. In the past, I’ve chosen a place to go based on a simple phrase or photo I saw in a Google review. Reviews can make a big difference in the perception and expectations one has when visiting a place for the first time.

My favorite thing to share in a review is whether or not a business or place is dog friendly. I have an older dog who doesn’t like to be alone, so I am always searching for new places to try where I can bring him along.

However, I will only bring him if I know for sure he is welcome, which often means using the ‘search reviews’ function within the Google Maps app. If I can’t find any information from that, I will usually call the business and ask if they are dog friendly and then make sure to add their response to my review once I’ve visited.

I love including this information because it can help both dog owners, and people who would rather not be near dogs at a particular business.

Overall I hope my reviews will help ease the process of choosing where to go and when, as we all know it can be a difficult task

@amperx11 , I do the same to be sure whether I can bring my furbaby with me or not. Restaurants & cafes with outdoor seating are 99% accepting of bringing a dog and encourage it by either have a water bowl at the front door (“the sign” for dog-friendly). I have had only 1 time in the outdoor dining section of a restaurant that did not want dogs there).

I definitely take photos if the place has dog treats, water bowls, and/or if the place has a “dog menu.”

Here is a recent photo that I put up on Google Maps for one of my favorite restaurants that welcomes everyone - dogs, kids, and adults.

Good Luck with your Connect Live 2019 application! = )

Cheers,

Karen
