Document and Map Markets in the East Africa. KENYA Edition!!

Hi guys,
Markets are essential and in Kenya they crop up along the major roads and offer very affordable food and commodities prices.

Now imagine if your Map can be able to tell you of such markets on your route. This would open up the region to not just road trips but shopping trips which means that our contributions would impact the economies around the markets.
We have tourists who prefer to use the map and not a local tour guide. Lets help them.

I was thinking we get a trip from Nairobi and back in a day where we visit and document markets and probably do sopping and enjoy the trip.
If this one works I can organize for a Nyama choma Lunch at a point on the way and we all get to eat and have fun outdoors while we document.

Any thoughts?

This is a great idea @bobez I look forward to your results. Supporting small businesses is one of the best thing we can do as Local Guides.

Sounds like a really good idea @bobez to show where the local markets are. I am going to tag my friend @Zuhralc who is also from Kenya maybe the two of you can take a trip to Nairobi together

@Zuhralc Thanks alot. Am glad to get your support in this idea. Three things would be required
A date,
Means of travel
The cost implications to be considered.

My thoughts On the date,

I propose the date to be probably after Back to school is done. I have a friend who is a tours driver with a coaster bus and ample roof carrier space. (Any other option is welcome)
The cost implications would just be on the transport then the shopping could be done on demand and as one sees best.

What do you think @Zuhralc Any ideas are welcome.

Hello @bobez this is a great idea, however before the proposed Trip let’s connect on Google maps support our near by bussines , have a meetup in Nairobi and the rest will fall in to place as we meet and know each other , remember charity begins at home  , Au sio. been waiting for so long to get another Kenyan to have a photo walk , support small business on Google maps and do Accessibility walk and awareness you can check my other posts and by this we can have lots of Ñyama choma after having a great meetup and making a difference to our community.

@bobez there are many markets ,both formal and informal, in Nairobi and its environs and the idea would be more welcome because it’d help promote the the traders and thereby grow the country’s economy.

@Zuhralc Yea the idea to leave Nairobi without starting something here would be a bad one. Charity begins at home. Am in talks with folks from here and we are working on a Nairobi based activity first. Thanks for the support. With a base activity in Nairobi done and actualized am sure the next ones we will be working together with you.
