Today, let me share with you a lovely restaurant worth visiting if you are looking for a nice place to dine around the Boeung Kak area in Phnom Penh (STEAM ME Eden Garden). Sometimes, the most memorable dining experiences are not simply about enjoying a meal but about discovering the stories, traditions, and cultural identity behind the food. My recent visit to this restaurant was a lovely opportunity to appreciate the beauty of traditional Cambodian cuisine and enjoy flavours that remind me of our local food heritage.
What immediately caught my attention was the restaurant’s style and dining concept. I really appreciated the traditional atmosphere and the thoughtful presentation of the dishes. The way the food was steamed and served made the experience feel special, reflecting the care and attention given to traditional cooking methods.
One of the highlights of our meal was the variety of dishes prepared and served in a traditional style. I particularly enjoyed the flavours, which felt authentic and reminded me of the richness of Cambodian home-style cooking. Rather than focusing only on modern presentation, the restaurant offered an experience that allowed us to appreciate the original character of the ingredients and traditional cooking techniques.
My personal favourite was Cambodian Traditional Lye Rice Porridge (បបរផេះ). It was absolutely delicious and became the most memorable dish of the meal for me. This traditional Cambodian porridge has a distinctive taste and cultural character that makes it different from many other rice porridge dishes. I always appreciate restaurants that preserve and introduce traditional Khmer dishes because they help keep our food heritage alive and allow younger generations and international visitors to discover something unique about Cambodia.
