Discovering Southern Taiwan

Kaohsiung is not a place that’s on people’s list of places to visit. I decided to discover this southern part of Taiwan when there was a good flight deal and being the adventurous guy, I booked without really knowing anything about this place. My 5-day trip is about to come to an endand I must say that I was glad that I visited this place. Whenever I travel, I now make it a point to avoid having expectations so I can be surprised when I arrive at the destination. This time being no exception. First of all I was pleasantly surprised that the Taiwanese are very friendly and helpful people. Some of them go out of their way to try and help! Aside from the people, there are also sites to see-temples, pagodas and just beautiful landscapes. Getting around is easy with the good transport system comprising of trains, buses and boat. Make sure to get an ipass (from the train station or any convenience store) and top up with credit (multiples of 100 Taiwan Dollar which is around US$3). Fares will be discounted when you use your ipass and it will also be more convenient. If you get a chance why not consider Taiwan and get to experience the friendly people, delicious food and beautiful landscape.
