Discovering Double Trouble State Park 🏞️

Hello everyone! :cowboy_hat_face:

Today I wanted to tell you about a visit I made a few days ago to another one of the many parks near my home in NJ. This park, called Double Trouble State Park :national_park:, is located on Pinewald Keswick Road in Bayville.

Among the many beautiful things about this park is that it’s a sort of living museum, as it was dedicated to large-scale cranberry production for many years :sparkles:. In fact, during the week, you can visit the Cranberry Sorting & Packing House, the plantations, and the Double Trouble Sawmill, where you can see the sawmill processing equipment and learn about the Pinelands lumber industry. You can also tour the many period houses.

All of this complements what the park offers in terms of trails of varying difficulty and length, with fabulous scenery ideal for the whole family :girl:. The Cedar Creek Water Trail is even open, which encourages many people to bring their kayaks and canoes :person_rowing_boat:. We did a hiking trail that takes about an hour with short breaks, but we made the most of it as a family and got in a healthy cardio workout in the process!

Naturally, this park is now added to the lists I’ve created on Google Maps :light_bulb: to help anyone looking for healthy and free entertainment options throughout the year. :dollar_banknote: Ultimately, when there’s no planned trip or structured outing, these types of inexpensive outings—a way to unwind—become an excellent improvised plan to break the routine.

@TusharSuradkar hi there!, this is what I found online about the origin of the name “double trouble”: * A “double” problem with the cranberry crops, which were difficult to cultivate.

  • A series of “troublesome” fires that often plagued the sawmill.
