The Salar Jung Museum in Hyderabad, Telangana is a world-famous one-man antiques collection. It is named after Nawab Mir Yousuf Ali Khan, also known as Salar Jung III, who was the Prime Minister of the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad. A 35-year collection of art, artifacts, and antiquities gathered by Salar Jung III and his family is the museum’s signature collection. From Japan, China, Burma, Nepal, India, Persia, Egypt, Europe, and North America, the museum has a collection of sculptures, paintings, carvings, textiles, manuscripts, ceramics, metallic artifacts, carpets, clocks, jade and furniture. The museum is one of the largest in the world. Additionally, it houses the famous Double Statue and Veiled Rebecca, a remarkable piece of art. Except on Fridays, it is open every day of the week. The visiting hours are 10 am to 5 pm. Visiting all the galleries of the museum usually takes half a day.
The entry fee for Indian adults (over 18 years old) is ₹50/-. Mobile phones are subject to an additional fee of ₹50/-.
