Hi Bill, I was there in late Jan this year, if you want an all inclusive experience plus food,
Id suggest The Lodge at Black Rapids you’ll get a tour guide and a run down of the local area, the scenery is absolutely
breathtaking and the food is to die for. You could message or call them to suggest that you’d like to try certain foods and see what
they say. Im not sure if they have restrictions with accommodation atm however.
I wasnt too keen on trying reindeer sausage and that kind of thing. I was told by a local that if you see that on a menu, the actual deer meat ratio vs sausage filler isnt that great. I did try East Ramp Woodfire Pizza and that was really good, its located east of Fairbanks airport, hence the name. The pizza is really good. Another place to eat is Chena Hot Springs, they have night sessions and you can have dinner after your soak perhaps. I had salmon and it was pretty good, scallops are also recommended there. If you want to wander through the Fairbanks town, there is a few tourist spots like the museum, and a walk along the river, you can work up an appetite and see what you feel like, I did that and ended up at The Crepery Fairbanks Im a fan of crepes anyway and they had a menu that would suit most people.
I hope that helps!
Thanks for your feedback. I look forward to the trip.
