The traditional District of Cumilla is well known for its archaeological monuments and architecture. This ancient district has many places of interest. This historical lake is not only Cumilla but also one of the largest ancient lakes in** Bangladesh**. So don’t forget to put this Dharmasagar Lake on your Cumilla travel list.
Dharmasagar Lake is located in Badurtala area, the heart of Cumilla city. It is known from history that Maharaja Dharma Manikya, the ruler of Tripura, dug the Dharmasagar Lake in 1458. He dug this tank to alleviate the water woes of the people of this region. According to the Rajmala, he ruled the region for a long period of 32 years. Dharmasagar is named after Dharma Manikya. This old lake is not only historically important, but also unique in its natural beauty and splendor. Though not as big as the sea, Dharmasagar is not for the little ones. Its area is 23.18 acres. Surrounded by huge green trees, the lake is full of eye-catching natural beauty and the noise of birds. This lake of great clear and pure water is incomparable to forget all the fatigue of the citizens. Rows and rows of trees and stone benches on the shores of Dharmasagar take people away in peace. If you want, you can rent a boat and float in the lake with joy in your mind. The shores of Dharmasagar became crowded during the afternoon journey. Many people come here in the morning and in the afternoon to walk in the fresh air. There is no pair of this tank to fill the mind with the swing of gentle wind.
In winter, Dharmasagar became famous for the call of guest birds. Swarms of guest birds flutter their wings throughout the day. To see this beauty of innumerable birds, you can come out from Dharmasagar Dighi in winter.
As the evening draws to a close, Dharmasagar is captured in its wonderful scenario. It is more interesting to see Dharmasagar glistening in the evening light, more mind boggling. At this time, innumerable people are sitting on the bank. There are Coffee shops on the banks of the lake. These always busy with peoples.
