Dharmasagar of Cumilla: Not only Cumilla but also one of the few ancient lakes in Bangladesh.

Hello Dear Friends, Today I will share with you the history of a famous place in my favorite city Cumilla, I hope you like it.

The traditional District of Cumilla is well known for its archaeological monuments and architecture. This ancient district has many places of interest. Most of these places still carry the history of the past. Dharmasagar Lake is one of these past monuments. This historical lake is not only Cumilla but also one of the largest ancient lakes in** Bangladesh**. So don’t forget to put this Dharmasagar Lake on your Cumilla travel list.

Dharmasagar Lake is located in Badurtala area, the heart of Cumilla city. It is known from history that Maharaja Dharma Manikya, the ruler of Tripura, dug the Dharmasagar Lake in 1458. He dug this tank to alleviate the water woes of the people of this region. According to the Rajmala, he ruled the region for a long period of 32 years. Dharmasagar is named after Dharma Manikya. This old lake is not only historically important, but also unique in its natural beauty and splendor. Though not as big as the sea, Dharmasagar is not for the little ones. Its area is 23.18 acres. Surrounded by huge green trees, the lake is full of eye-catching natural beauty and the noise of birds. This lake of great clear and pure water is incomparable to forget all the fatigue of the citizens. Rows and rows of trees and stone benches on the shores of Dharmasagar take people away in peace. If you want, you can rent a boat and float in the lake with joy in your mind. The shores of Dharmasagar became crowded during the afternoon journey. Many people come here in the morning and in the afternoon to walk in the fresh air. There is no pair of this tank to fill the mind with the swing of gentle wind.

In winter, Dharmasagar became famous for the call of guest birds. Swarms of guest birds flutter their wings throughout the day. To see this beauty of innumerable birds, you can come out from Dharmasagar Dighi in winter.

As the evening draws to a close, Dharmasagar is captured in its wonderful scenario. It is more interesting to see Dharmasagar glistening in the evening light, more mind boggling. At this time, innumerable people are sitting on the bank. There are Coffee shops on the banks of the lake. These always busy with peoples. You can see Nazrul Institute, Ranir Kuti on the bank of lake. The City Park can be seen just north of it. This five-acre city park is a beautiful place surrounded by shade of trees. To the east you will see Comilla Zilla School and Cumilla Stadium. Besides, there is Cumilla Children’s Park in the north corner of Dighi. This is a wonderful children’s park with greenery and huge trees. This child can sit in the park and enjoy the whole view of Dharmasagar effortlessly.

Comilla Women’s College has been established on the south bank of this lake. In front of this very old institution is a huge field covered with green grass. In the afternoon, people who come to visit Dharmasagar gather in this field. The entire western part of Dharmasagar is beautifully decorated. This bank is very tidy with various trees and flowers. There is a great footpath on the side. There is seating on the side of the road.

How to go:

Cumilla can be reached by bus or train from Dhaka. Comilla buses leave from Dhaka’s Saidabad and Kamalapur Royal Bus, Asia Aircon, BRTC bus counters. It takes two and a half to three and a half hours to reach Cumilla from Dhaka. Dharmasagar Dighi can be reached by taking any rickshaw or autorickshaw to Cumilla city.

Sun set

Where to stay:

There are innumerable hotels to stay in Cumilla. You can stay in these at low cost. Some of the notable hotels are - Hotel Kasturi, Nurjahan Hotel, Hotel Al-Rafiq, Amania Rest House, Hotel Dreamland, Hotel Noor, Hotel Midtown, Hotel Sonali. Hotel Victoria etc.

Friends must write down how you like the story, Not today, we will meet again in another history, in another writing.
