DHARAMSHALA - THE REAL BEAUTY OF HIMACHAL

Hello my local guide friends i hope you all doing great.

Today i am going to share one of my best trip to Dharamshala located in Northen part of India it is one of the famous tourist attraction in Himachal Pradesh .Their lush greenery and majestic hills can really make you fall in love.

In Sanskrit Dharmshala - Dharam means religious and Shala means Sanctuary.

According to Hindu common usage Dharamshala is know as shelter or rest house for spiritual pilgrims.

Most of the famous sight seeing are located in McLeod Ganj.
McLeodGanj is situated at upper hills from dharmshala it’s nearly 10 km from dharmshala city, so mostly tourist will stay in McLeodGanj as it easy to travel to tourist attractions.

McLeodGanj is also famous for being home to the world -renowned Tibetan spiritual leader the 14th Dalai lama. He is been living since 1959 when he was force to escape into exile after the brutal suppression of Tibetan national uprising by the Chinese troops

Church of ST.JOHN in the Wilderness

St. John in the wilderness is an Anglican church dedicated to John the baptist. It was built in 1852 and is located in dharamshala india on the way to Mcleod Ganj. The church survived the 1905 Earthquake, which killed close to 19800 people, injured thousands in the kangara area.

HIMACHAL PRADESH CRICKET ASSOCIATION STADIUM

This stadium is located in Dharamshala , kangara district, Himachal Pradesh , India.

This stadium has served as the home ground for the Himachal Pradesh Cricket team for Ranji trophy matches and other domestic matches. The stadium also hosted some matches from one of the famous IPL matches. This is the home stadium for Kings IX PUNJAB

The capacity of the ground is 23000

There is a minimum entry fee.

WAR MEMORIAL

War memorial is located at the entry point of the dharmshala town it was built in the memory of those who fought valiantly for the honor of their motherland.

There is an entry fee to see the war memorial.

One can literally fall in love with this town because of its beauty, breath taking views , roads surrounded by long trees, lovely sunset view.

While visiting one of the tourist place i found a small cafe which i really find it great i dint remember the name but yes i had coffee over there and the coffee was really great in taste.

Mcleodganj is also famous for mountain trekking, also other activities like camping, paragliding and yoga also takes place.

What you can buy from Mcleodeganj
If you love shopping you can go to market where you can buy local Tibetan handicrafts, artificial jwellery , colorful bags and purses, hand made diaries etc.

Famous food in dharmshala
Being on mountains its a ritual you should have momos, Maggie or masala tea without this 3 combination your trip is called to be incomplete. You should try this on street vendor they really make the best.

Where to stay in Dharamshala
The price of the room in main location will cost you double during peak season also its very conjusted due to narrow lane with limited space for parking. But if you book the hotel a bit far from the main area it may get you the best deal with great amenities and if you thinking it will be completely isolated and it will scary during night no it won’t.
Hotels located bit outside the main location is just 10-15 mins far but it benefits you with the great mountain views also with the private balcony.

Just check out the view from my hotel

How to travel in dharmshala

Vehicle is very important to travel in Himachal either rent a car or bike to travel on tourist attractions.
I don’t suggest you to self drive if you haven’t drive on mountains it’s not that easy so if you not experienced driver please avoid.

How to reach dharmshala
Pathankot is the nearest city to reach dharmshala it nearly takes 3 hours to reach dharmshala by road. There is no airport or railway station located in dharmshala.

Nearest Railway station
Pathankot Punjab (85km )

The nearest airport
Amritsar Punjab ( 202km )

When i am on mountains

Whenever I am on mountain’s firstly my habits gets improved I sleep early so i wake up early, eating healthy breakfast, stress free morning.

You become a complete discipline person you could see a change in yourself you feel fresh and healthy.

I wake up very early in the morning make my tea sit in the balcony and enjoy the peace which I never get in my city life. I literally sit for hours doing nothing just enjoy the view and feel like wow this what life should be which I know it can’t be permanent for now.

so what do you feel when you are on mountains or what your special thing to do ?

Are you sleepy head or do you love trekking or camping please share your lovely mountain trip with me in the comment box.

Thank you.
