Deekshabhoomi, Nagpur

Deekshabhoomi:

I visited this place in the last month. Located in Central Nagpur.

Deekshabhoomi is holy religious place for Buddhist. Here great Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar (The Architect of the Constituation of India) along with his 6 lakh followers took ‘Deeksha’ of Buddhism.

The construction of Deekshabhoomi Stupa was started in 1968 which took more than 30 years to complete.

Stupa is dome shape and it is hollow inside. A beautiful statue of Lord Buddha is placed inside at the center of the stupa. In the hall inside, we can also see photos of some events in life of Dr Ambedkar. Information about these events is mentioned below each photo. We can also see another statues of Lord Buddha and Dr Ambedkar outside the stupa.

Apart from Buddha Stupa, this place also consist of Buddha Vihar, Pratidnya Stambha, Bodhi Vruksha, Deekshabhoomi Book Depot.

Pratidnya stambh is a pillar on which 22 vows administered by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar are written in Marathi, Hindi and English.

Thank you for sharing information about one of the most popular spots in Nagpur.

All photos are wonderfully captured and it seems like the place is not much crowded.

The place seems to be in very good condition @abhishekpatk

Is there any day of the week when it is closed? or open 24x7?

Also never knew about the existence of metro train in Nagpur

This is wonderful :+1:

Thank you for the comment @TusharSuradkar

The place was not at all crowded that day. When I asked security person there, he told me that usually Sunday is rush day here. This place is also crowded on 14 April (Dr Ambedkar Jayanti) and 06 Dec (Mahaparinirwan Din).

You are right. This place is in very good condition. Housekeeping staff is doing their job continuously. Security is there all time as a special police guard room is there inside the campus.

The monument is open for all 7 days of week from 07.00am to 08.00pm. (I have mentioned this in the post)

Nagpur Metro: Started operation in March 2020 I guess. It is not in operation with full strength. Partial operations began last year. Full operations shall begin at end of this year.

I travelled in the metro and found the service is excellent as like in Delhi & Mumbai.
