It takes some time to get everything updated. But from my personal viewpoint, I’d say that as you are a level 8 guide (which requires a lot of points) a decrement of 130 points is not a big amount. Sometimes our photos got removed from the maps, reviews got turned down for policy issue, etc. can also cause this.
There has been a known bug for a few days where we are our points have been going up in error due to points being given for answers that we have not answered.
Points seem to be coming off currently.

@IshantHP_ig If nothing changes, and one’s contribution stays static, points can only go down.
Points decrease due to many reasons.
Places that are closed permanently, or duplicate places closed
Reviews and Photos and videos made private because they do no adhere to rules of contributions.
Reviews, Photos and videos that are flagged by others, and are made private
etc
I would suggest that we worry less about points and levels, rather focus on contributing with quality.
Note that there could be intermittent batch calculation processes that could make the points vary up or down sometimes, but that’s a system thing. The above reasons are actual reasons why points can go down.
Your experience of points going down each time you log in is probably just incidental. Unless you find some trend that you can confirm, do report back here.
My points are also went down. but I know those were not extra added point. Because I got those points when I added something to the maps. I have calculations and updates in my mind.
Today something odd has happened to my Level 8 points of 35,252 earlier today, which I got through doing reviews of places I have on my Want to go list. Just now, 7.16 pm, my points dropped to 34,815 which I can’t understand why as the points were gained through doing a thorough review of the place I visited with photos (food photography expertise) of the food I ate.
I included photos of the exterior of the building and just of the food I eat but I usually let the owner know I’ve taken some photos and I have the restaurant or cafe on my Want to go list. So all my points are really hard earned in that way as I plan out my reviews by having lunch at the places I schedule to go to.
I also go through some facts checking the hours and other details like phone connection and whether the business is still ongoing. It isn’t easy checking the facts as I have to phone the companies and visit their website to see whether places are still open for business and often with opening hours I have to phone the place itself.
I really earned these points so I don’t know why they have suddenly dropped today from 35,252 to 34,815 and continuing.
Hi @Kol-Colleen_2018 I have noticed it also today, it was not the first time to me, in the last few weeks while we were busy with Connect Live 2019 application my points increased almost +300 and I did not know why, and today they decreased, even now they are still where they were when they decreased, for me I have no problem since I know they were not my earned points. I am sure something is not right, others were complaining that number of questions answered were increasing randomly, I did not have that issue my self. I hope the local guide team will look into this and rectify if required. Thanks.
It is the oddest thing as I seriously work hard for my points, as I observe the places I go to and return at a later date.
To the point where a Global Buffet restaurant thanked me for my comment after I re-rated it from a 5-star place to a 4-star place and then someone asked a question about the children’s menu which is an excellent deal so I gave it back its 5 star rating!!
So yeah I take my reviews and food photography very seriously as I do my blog!
I want my points back! Really was hard earned you know!

Hi @StephenAbraham I am experiencing the same problem too, and not just the two of us, there are more posts coming in here on connect currently talking about the same thing. I had this problem may be 2 to 3 weeks ago, were by I gained points +300 which I did not know where they came from, and suddenly today it went down randomly.
Hi everyone, I’m living a reduction of points from my contributions. By this time, hundreds of them are missing. Is anyone else living the same situation?
@HumbertG I’ve noticed the same thing. In the last day or so my points have been reduced by about 2,500. In my case it looks like it is due to a reduction in the number points awarded for “Answers”. I’ve dropped from almost 24,000 answers on 5/3/19 to 21,581 right now and possibly still dropping. Not sure what the reason may be. Hopefully one of the Googlers or moderators will let us know what’s going on. Regards, Koby
After doing a bit more research I see my point total inexplicably increased about 2,000 points on May 1st. Therefore it would appear that the current point reduction is related to that and a correction is underway.
I notice there is another post outlining a similar problem in the “How-To’s” topic under the heading " My points on Google Maps dropped from 35,252 earlier today to 34,815".
