District Seoni is a very peaceful and beautiful small city of Madhya Pradesh. People living here live in mutual harmony. People of almost all religions and classes are known for their mutual brotherhood. This district is situated almost in between Jabalpur and Nagpur.
One km away from the Government Rest House on the National Highway is the Dargah of a famous Sufi saint Mohammad Shah Wali alias Miya Saheb, due to which this place is known as Zyarat Naka. This Dargah was built by the Diwan of Seoni who had great respect for this Sufi saint. It is said that when Miya Saheb scolded the mad elephant bent on killing Diwan Shujaat Ali, it became calm. There’s is also a legend that when a conspiracy was planned about to poison the King Raghuji Bhosale II of Nagpur, he gave prior information about it to the then Diwan and sent the Diwan to save the life of the king, due to which the conspiracy failed.
After the death of Miya Saheb, a small beautiful domed tomb was built as a mark of respect. Visiting this is called Ziyarat. In 1839, the Diwan gifted three villages to Yakub Ali Shah, who was probably the son of the Sufi saint. There are more visitors on Thursdays and people of all religions have immense respect for the Sufi saint. There is a special feeling of peace at this dargah. There is also a mosque here, where all prayers are offered. Urs is held here every year, in which people from far and wide come to participate. This dargah is a living example of mutual brotherhood and communal harmony.
