“Cuti-cuti” is a Malay word mean holiday, it is also favorite quote promoting travelling in Malaysia - Cuti-cuti Malaysia.
There are a lot of places that you can enjoy your outing with kids in Malaysia.
Always start with a place that kids can have interaction with animals or friends, start with a place that a tour can be done within 2 hours and gradually increase if the kids can adapt to longer time.
1. Farm in the City, Seri Kembangan, Selangor
(https://www.farminthecity.my/)
-my favorite as animals run freely, you can hug the animals if you want, feeding is allowed with feeds provided by the farm
-some amazing species here, eg wallabies, alpaca, giant tortoises, pelicans, etc
-my girl enjoyed touching chicken, chasing guinea pigs, catching fishes from “longkang” (drain in English)
-we also learnt about local fruit trees, vegetables and plants available in Malaysia
Tips for Parents: a. prepare hand sanitiser or wet tissue if hand hygiene is your concern
b. there are some slopes and stairs, the lightest your baby stroller is, the better your exploration is.
2. Jelita Ostrich Farm, Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan
(http://www.mpn.gov.my/en/visitors/places-interest/jelita-ostrich-farm)
-a private ostrich farm situated within State Veterinary compound, listed in Malaysia Book of Records as the first ostrich farm in Malaysia
-kids can see and feed the ostriches and goats, they can also ride the ostrich and certificate of braveness will be given
-we also watch ostrich racing and enjoy horse carriage ride at a minimal fee
Tips for Parents: a. ensure you have sunblock and umbrella ready due to not much shady area
b. always alert on the surrounding as goats or ducks may come too close with your kids
3. Taman Botani Negara Shah Alam, Shah Alam, Selangor
-72 hectare park with a lot of greenery, attractions includes 4 season temperature house, cactus park, animal park, spice garden, etc
-kids need a lot of encouragement to walk through the park, fortunately attractions were along the ways and we can take a rest before continue our journey
-bicycle riding is available and challenging in some route, we did not try it due to the kids cannot ride on their own
Tips for Parents: a. please expect a long waiting time (may up to an hour) for the 4 season temperature house if you visit the park on weekend or public holiday
b. a pair of sport shoes will be most helpful to walk around the park, jacket will be useful if you plan to stay longer in the winter house
Malaysia kids are pampered with a lot of parks and learning opportunities from playing.
There are Sunway Lagoon for adventurous, Kidzania for real job experience seekers, National Museum for history readers, National Science Centre for the discovery, etc.
So, go through the list and plan a weekend get away with your kids for Cuti-cuti in Malaysia!
