These sweet pulpy fruits make their appearance in winter. They are table fruits but are also popular in milk shakes, ice creams, desserts and more. They are soft and juicy when ripe. They also make great subjects for photography.

Hello @giribpai ,
Thank you for sharing this interesting photos with us. Honestly, at the beginning I though it’s artichoke!
I’ve never seen this fruit before, wonder how it tastes! Did you take these photos at a market? Is this fruit very popular in your country?
Also called sugar apples, Anona squamosa are sweet with white pulp and black seeds. The seeds have to be spat out. One can scoop out the pulp and seeds with a spoon and not have to touch the innards of the fruit. Sugar apples in season flood the market and thereafter they are sold everywhere, mostly on the streets where pushcarts or bicycles are used to heap them and sell them. I took these pictures from a pushcart at Thane where I live. Yes, of course, these are very popular all across India and are sought after and consumed in season. They cost about INR 100 per kilogram (or about US$1.5 per kilogram). I hear from friends in North America, that this fruit is now available in the USA and Canada too. So, do try your luck @BorrisS and you may even find Sugar Apples during your next super market trip.
Thank you for the details and explanation @giribpai .
I will definitely try to find these fruits in the place where I’m living, hopefully I will find some.
Yes @RohithaF it is a tasty and appealing fruit.
