Those are sea cucumbers.
It is not a fruit or vegetable. It is an animal. They live on sea floors found in the Pacific Ocean.
It’s shape resemble large worms or caterpillars. They are harvested by divers and local fisherman.
This sea cucumber comes by its name as it is indeed shaped like a cucumber. This marine animal considered a delicacy in many different cuisine but it most popular in China and other Asian countries.
Here in Indonesia especially in North Sulawesi, we can find many sea cucumber in front fisherman house. The harvest them from the sea then dry by sunlight or smoke them. Most people here do not eat them. Sea cucumber or local people called it “Teripang” export to China. Teripang actually good commodity and bery expensive.
Sea cucumbers are very low in calories and fat and high in protein, making them a weight-loss-friendly food. They also contain many powerful substances, including antioxidants, which are good for your health.
